FIRST SHOTS OF HOMEWORLD 2, RELIC SPEAKS
Relic's CEO confirms that the sequel to the developer's acclaimed 3D RTS is still in development: first shots inside
15:33 Homeworld, the space-based 3D RTS for PC, turned the Relic team into kings overnight. When the game was released everyone wanted a piece of the action, newshounds and gamers alike clamouring at the doors of the Canada-based company. And when Homeworld 2 was announced, fans of the original went ballistic.
After the following months of silence, things have calmed. Homeworld 2 has virtually become a game of forgotten legend, a title rarely mentioned and only crops up, in a reminiscing topic kind of way, in conversation among aficionados of the original outing.
With nothing having been heard in a long, long while, we were starting to become concerned that the RTS sequel had been swallowed by a black hole or atomised by a rogue asteroid.
Fortunately, we were completely wrong. "It's still definitely in development," said Relic CEO Alex Garden.
The youthful company chief went on to admit that "we're [Relic] keeping it pretty quiet right now," when questioned about the lack of information issued on the game.
Sadly he declined to comment on when we could expect to see more, but Garden did confirm that Sierra, the publisher of the original game, would be handling the sequel.
So we can't bring you any new information on Homeworld 2 at the moment, but how about the very first screenshots? Will they do? Be aware that the images below come from very early code, so expect the game to look substantially different when it's released, whenever that may be.
