"Bluehole Studios, the newly formed developers of TERA are to compensate NCSoft for the sum of 2 billion Wons(approximately 1,721,836.820 USD). This decision was made by the Seoul Central District Court after they found the former development director of Lineage 3 guilty. According to Bluehole, they are not satisfied with the judgement, and will lodge an appeal immediately.
It is still unknown whether this will affect the development of TERA, or the existence of Bluehole, and NCSoft have yet to make an official statement on the case.
The reason behind the case is the fact that Mr. Kang and Mr. Yo, former developers for Lineage 3, used some of the technologies copyrighted by NCSoft after the project’s cancellation, in their latest game – TERA."
Como ya era sabido, corria el "mas que" rumor sobre el plagio de parte del codigo del cancelado Lineage 3 por parte de los desarrolladores del Tera. Finalmente, segun conocemos por los innumerables portales dedicados a los juegos mmo, la sentencia por parte de los jueces coreanos es, Culpable. Parece ser que Bluehole Studio ha apelado la sentencia inmediatamente como era de esperar, veremos como acaba todo esto.
En un principio, segun la sentencia, Bluehose Studio debera indemnizar a Ncsoft con la nada despreciable cantidad de 1,2 millones de euros, tras esta noticia no se sabe aun como afectara al desarrollo del juego Tera, seguira siendo F2P?"
Tiene ya unos meses la noticia pero no he visto que estuviese por aqui reflejada
