I got hold of a copy of the PAL version, it's been out in some parts of Europe since last Friday. It DOESN'T (and I repeat: DOESN'T) have 60 Hz support.
The game does NOT run slower than the NTSC version, that means the number of seconds (real or in the game, they didn't mess with the timers either) it takes to complete a stage will be the same on the NTSC and the PAL version. However, this is achieved by skipping frames. Those of you who know about this stuff will know the three ways of converting from NTSC to PAL and you will probably agree that Treasure (once again) knew what they were doing and chose the best method of converting they could. The only way of converting that would have produced a better result would require redoing all animations in the entire game (a HUGE task). The third method of converting would have slowed the entire game down to 83% of its normal speed, making the game... some would say "unplayable", others would just say "much less enjoyable" and all would agree it would have made it unfair to compare scores with players of the NTSC version.
This way, for every five frames that is drawn, one is skipped. That means, if an animation consists of 30 frames (a half second at 60 Hz), this is what it will look like in the NTSC and the PAL version:
NTSC version:
1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, 22, 23, 24, 25, 26, 27, 28, 29, 30
30 images = a half second at 60 Hz
PAL version:
1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 19, 20, 21, 22, 23, 25, 26, 27, 28, 29 (images 6, 12, 18, 24 and 30 skipped)
25 images = a half second at 50 Hz
Is this noticable? If you look for it, yes. You won't be playing with anyone who asks you why the game is stuttering, it's just not something you see if you don't want to (except in the cut scenes or when something big is moving fast, like a boss flying onto the screen). Then again, some people can hardly enjoy a game like this and others can't see it even if you tell them what to look for. My cousin plays Counter-Strike at around 20 frames per second on his AMD K6-2 400 MHz and I feel like I'm watching slides when I see him play (checking my watch, ooh, the next image should be ready anytime soon!), while he can't even tell that it looks like everything is jumping all over the screen. Anyway...
This is as good as it gets, the PAL version is completely playable and enjoyable while all scores and times are comparable with the NTSC version. Thank you for doing it the right way, Treasure (but next time throw in the 60 Hz option also, ok?).
Oh, one other thing... The PAL version makes it A LOT easier to see what's going on when playing in horizontal mode (1, 2 or 3), because of the 19% more scanlines, everything is just much more clear. In vertical mode (1 and 2) it doesn't make that big a difference, but the PAL version of course still has a higher resolution.

más barato que aquí el PAL incluyendo gastos de envío, así que le den mucho por culo al PAL
