At last, I found a way to backup/restore games. Using EZPDA didn't work, because it didn't recognize SRAM format as "its own" and complained about battery dry or first in and overwrite it. I found a workaround.
a) For games in which a saver patch is found (without -nosave) or homebrew that saves on SRAM (is there any?):
- Play the game/homebrew/whatever and save.
- Now the save is in EZ3 SRAM. Don't change the loader to use EZPDA, don't play another game, etc. or your save will be lost.
- To backup, download EZClient 3.03 from this page. It is EZII client, but as the writer is the same, it will work. Don't install drivers, etc. they are not necessary.
- To translate this program into english, choose the third menu, last option, click English.
- On the left, it should say: Non EZCart/EZFlash 3 me. If not, insert cart into writer (doh!).
- Now press BAK Saver. It will ask for a place to your .sav in your hard disk. Save it and give it a name.
- You can now change game, switch back to .gba mode, etc. Your SRAM contents reside happily in your HD.
- To restore, start ezclient again and click write saver. Browse for your .sav and your .sav will be copied to SRAM again.
- Play the game, etc. again from where you left.
b) For homebrew/games that save on original NDS cart (EEPROM) (the vast majority of things are from this category):
- Play the game/homebrew/whatever and save.
- Your saver is in the EEPROM of the NDS cart.
- To backup it, go to Cory1492’s DS Dev Corner and download EToolSMS.
- Flash EtoolSMS.ds.gba from flashcart dir to 256 Mbit area of EZIII.
- Format cart's SRAM (do a backup first if you need to, look above). DON'T format EEPROM.
- If you are using a passme, remove it and insert cart directly into the upper slot of the DS (it should not happen anything bad as you are not writing/reading)
- Select backup and choose a slot, according to your saver size (look it in the upper part of the screen). Choose a name for your save.
- Now the saver is in the EEPROM and in SRAM.
- To backup SRAM, follow directions above. (basically, use EZII client to backup/restore SRAM).
Exception: Can't backup 2 Mbit FLASH type. Yes, that include Nintendogs.
- Ahora pulsar BAK SAVER.
- Y a jugar...
