SOCOM 4 SE VA A 2011
Originally due some time this fall, Zipper Interactive's SOCOM 4: U.S. Navy SEALs is now penciled in for release some time next year. The developer confirmed today that it's delaying the PlayStation 3 game to give it some extra polish.
The developer writes on the official SOCOM site "While we're certainly aware that you've been looking forward to playing SOCOM 4 this year, we don't want to take any shortcuts. Instead, we want to deliver the best and most immersive SOCOM game we possibly can and we're going to use our extra time to do just that."

Ninja Theory’s Tameem Antoniades has told DS that the secret project from the Enslaved and Heavenly Sword studio will be something that’s “story-based” once again.
NT’s already taken on two heavily driven story-focused titles with Heavenly and Enslaved.
“I think it will be another story-based game, big adventure type thing, that’s all I can really say,” said Antonades.
That comment may throw into doubt speculation Ninja Theory is working on Devil May Cry 5, something that was neither confirmed or denied when we talked to Antoniades back in May.
He also said that the game will be for multiple platforms, and the studio’s future is now multiplatform, which may pour cold water into the fire of NT ever developing Heavenly Sword 2 for Sony and PS3.
Enslaved: Journey to the West releases on October 8 in the UK for PS3 and 360.
I first saw this list a month or so back, but didn't think much of it then, mostly because it lacks the dread Dormammu. A month later, and we've seen quite a few of these characters confirmed for Marvel Vs. Capcom 3, including Thor, Amateratu, Trish, and Super Skrull.
The rosters for Super Street Fighter 4 and Tatsunoko Vs. Capcom were leaked by similar sources, way before either game was released. Knowing that makes me more tempted to believe in this leak as well. Dormammu might not be on it, but that might be because he's an unplayable boss, like Apocolypse, Cyber-Akuma, Onslaught, Abyss, and Yami before him.
Hit the jump to see this spoiler-ific, rumored roster for yourself, and tell me what you think in the comments. If this list is legit, that will mean that we didn't do half bad on our guess post from forever ago.
Sorry Topher, no Hinata.

Ubisoft’s UK managing director Rob Cooper has said there’s a possibility the firm’s triple-A titles could go 3D in the future.
Speaking with MCV, Cooper feels Ubisoft should ensure those with 3D capable televisions are not left out of the mix.
“I do believe that Avatar allowed us just a little bit of advantage in terms of experience with how this market will work,” he said.
“We are working to offer the possibility of 3D on most of our upcoming triple-A titles, as we’d like to ensure that we are there for those consumers that begin putting new 3D enabled televisions in their homes.”
The developer already has 3D enabled games like Shaun White Skateboarding which is out in October, and Avatar, which has been out since Christmas 2009.
Should Ubi decide to put the tech in all it’s major titles, Assassin’s Creed, Driver, Ghost Recon, HAWX, Prince of Persia, Splinter Cell, and many others could all go 3D sooner rather than later.
The new Operation Flashpoint game will be called OF: Red River, CVG has discovered.
According to the online CV of a Codemasters artist, the title will be released in 2011 on Xbox 360, PS3 and PC.
No other details about the game are revealed, but it's almost certain to be a strategic FPS like predecessor Dragon Rising.
That title got a decent critical reception on its release back in October, 2009 - and won the admiration of PC Zone.
Dragon Rising was also a commercial success for Codemasters, reaching the Top Five of the UK All Formats chart.
It’s been a long road since we launched Ratchet & Clank Future: A Crack in Time to your rave reviews last Fall. While we haven’t had any new game content to show you since then, that’s about to change in a big way. And yes, we realize we’re announcing an announcement, and that we announced this newsletter announcement via a Twitter/Facebook announcement earlier this week. We feel a little bad about announcing the announcement of an announcement – but on the other hand, you’re excited and so are we.
With that, we’re happy to reveal that we’ll be announcing our newest game sometime between now and the Penny-Arcade Expo over Labor Day weekend. We’re really excited to finally reveal this project, and we couldn’t resist being the first to share the news with you. Even bigger news is that newsletter subscribers will be the first folks to see the trailer: the instant we announce the game – we’ll be blasting a newsletter with the trailer for you to view at home. The only way to be the very first to see what we’re cooking up next – is to be a subscriber of this newsletter –so tell your friends!
We can’t wait to hear what you think – so make sure you head to the forums, or drop us a line on Facebook or Twitter with your thoughts!

Bethesda’s just revealed that ex-Infinity Ward bosses Jason West and Vince Zampella are to speak at QuakeCon this year.
Announced rather cryptically, Bethesda’s Pete Hines and Nick Breckon revealed the news via Facebook and Twitter, respectively.
This will be the first speaking engagement for the Respawn Entertainment founders since the massive Infinity Ward blow-up with Activision, and their sacking from the studio.
Maybe Respawn’s first game will be announced. Maybe. Patcher reckons it’s a space-shooter. Maybe.
QuakeCon 2010 takes place August 12-15 at the Hilton Anatole Hotel in Dallas, Texas.
Hines went on to confirm Todd Howard, Harvey Smith, Emil Pagliarulo, Chris Rhinehart, Matt Carofano, John Carmack, Tim Willits and Richard Garriott as speakers for the event.
Sounds like it won’t be one to miss.
System 3 has announced yet another Ferrari-licensed racing game, Ferrari: The Race Experience, presumably a follow-up to last year's Ferrari Challenge Deluxe. Like System 3's previous efforts, this will be hitting both Wii and PlayStation 3. However, PS3 owners will only be able to find the game on the virtual shelves of the PlayStation Network. Why? System 3 explains that it's become too costly to deal with retail. "The vast amounts of money required in securing a decent in-store presence through co-operative marketing [makes it] easy to see why some games are doomed before they start. By going down a download only route, System 3 is quietly confident that it can service consumer demand directly and efficiently."
While many of System 3's future releases will be exclusive to download platforms, the company did admit that it can't give up on retail altogether. "Obviously we are not moving away fully from boxed product as we are committed to maximising our games across all formats and Wii games, for example, are still only released as physical product."
If we were to place a single bet on what we thought Square Enix's recently filed European trademark for "Gun Loco" would end up being, we'd almost certainly be proven wrong within a few months. Instead, we've got three hypotheses, which we've ranked below in order of likelihood. Now all our bases should totally be covered.
1. Gun Loco: A stylish, fast-paced shooting game. Features over-the-top gunplay and comedically bad voice acting.
2. Gun Loco: A psychological thriller about an evil scientist who invents a laser capable of driving ordinary people into irreversible fits of insanity.
3. Gun Loco: An FPS in which the hero locates a gun capable of shooting entire freight trains at enemies. (Please, please, Square Enix -- let it be this one.)
If a recent job posting is to go by, Transformers: War for Cybertron developer High Moon Studios might be looking into - or already have - doing a sequel for the surprise of the year.
The studio is looking for a level designer, experienced in working with Epic’s Unreal Engine. Might be a bit of a long shot for some given that an uncountable large number of games use that engine, but for the unaware, that’s also the same engine used to power Transformers: WFC.
It’s also been known that High Moon Studios have been in talks with Activision about making more games based on the franchise. And the surprisingly high scoring reviews the game has received since launch should not be forgotten.
So yes, that a sequel should see the light of day at some point is highly plausible. But we’re still labeling this as a rumor.
In case you’ve been following the five-year old company, Red 5 Studios have announced that their “team-based action shooter” will be revealed at this year’s PAX Prime.
The company has been very secretive about the game, as the only details known to the public is the game’s genre and that it utilizes a modified version of the Offset Engine.
Be sure to look for the game once PAX Prime goes underway from September 3rd - 5th.
Shake off that sense of deja vu. We're talking about a different Cabela's game here: Activision has just announced Cabela's Dangerous Hunts 2011, the next installment in its iterative series of hunt-em-down-and-shoot-em-ups. It's set to stalk retail shelves "late fall" and will be available on the Xbox 360, PS3, Wii and DS systems. Every version sans the DS installment will come packed with the Top Shot Elite controller, a wireless gun peripheral created by the same people at Activision who brought you the Guitar Hero controllers.
Activision is apparently putting a lot of production value into this latest Cabela's title, tapping Brad Santos, screenwriter and creative director, to pen the tale of Cole Rainsford, who has joined his estranged father in the African safari to hunt dangerous animals terrorizing local villages there. See, kids? Hunting is a noble pursuit.
Amsterdam’s Guerrilla Games is not just Killzone 3, a completely new game based on a new IP is in the making. That says managing director Hermen Hulst during an interview with Control in the edition next week.
When asked “What about the development of a new IP?” Hulst said: “We are now fully working. We try to do it very carefully and are now at the point where key players to set up. It is very busy with Killzone 3, but we still have people released this. Very soon we are going upscale. We are now still in the conceptual stage. A very nice time for the studio. Typical of the Guerrilla culture is that the company involved in the project. We have an extensive briefing circulated and invited everyone to pitch concepts. There are so many ideas come from. It gives a good picture of what the studio wants. We had quite a quick idea of what we want to do, but it’s still too early to talk about it. “
On August 17 the Gamescom Sony ground their own conference, the official games are currently Killzone 3 (will be revealed multiplayer) 2 LittleBigPlanet, Infamous 2, Gran Turismo 5, DC Universe Online, Journey, MotorStorm: Apocalypse and Sorcery.
But Antonio Fucito (Associate Editor, Senior Editor (Sony Area) and Community Manager of Italian gaming site Multiplayer.it) said that the vision of the events of the GameCom Sony had not yet announced a game published by SCEA (Sony Computer Entertainment America) and that was a sequel.
Warhawk 2?
Uncharted 3?
Syphon Filter PS3?
Jak and Daxter PS3? or
Resistance 3 ?
Of course it could also be a game for PSP.
We just have to wait until August 17
An image has appeared online that is apparently from the as yet to be announced Dead or Alive 5. The screen is taken from the a menu select select and shows both the ‘X’ and ‘O’ buttons, confirming that the game will be on PS3. Dead or Alive 4 was exclusive to Xbox 360.
This is all speculation of course. No one knows if the screen is the the real deal or not but its safe to assume that DOA 5 is happening and Tecmo and Tean Ninja are hard at work on the game. What to you think?

A new job listing over at Gamasutra suggests Warner Bros are looking for new staff in order to develop new titles based on Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit.
The role, which is for a Director of Marketing, says the individual will be responsible for brand plan development for Lord of the Rings: War in the North and two games inspired by The Hobbit movies.Warner Bros. Home Entertainment Inc. seeks a Director, Marketing for the Marketing department. Position will be responsible for brand development and product marketing activities for the entire portfolio of The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit games at Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment. Position manages high-level cross-company & external partnerships relative to the assigned franchises.
Lord of the Rings: War in the North in currently in development by Snowblind Studios and is due for release on Xbox 360, PS3 and PC next year.
There is no information on any of The Hobbit games at the moment, although perhaps this could suggest Warner is the “big company” Guillermo del Toro is working with on a few new titles.
The ever popular iPhone game Angry Birds, developed by studio Rovio, will be making its debut on home and handheld consoles, including the DS, PSP and the PlayStation 3.
“When it was released last December Angry Birds made a slow start but as word got round, everyone’s gone crazy for it,” said co-founder of Rovio, Joe Wee, who adds "we are also releasing it on Nintendo DS, Sony PSP and PS3.”
Angry Birds is a pretty fun iPhone game that pits said angry birds against pigs. Players aim and fire the birds with a catapult at the pigs, racking up as high a score as possible. The more pigs hit the more points received.
It's a surprising addiction, to say the least.

“The past year we have focused on capturing the casual market with the likes of Buzz, EyePet and Invizimals on both the PS3 and PSP” explained UK community manager MusterBuster at the recent PlayStation Beta Rooms event.
“We now want to bring back the focus on hardcore gamers, we realise the hardcore gamers are the ones that are actively involved in the community and are constantly giving feedback not to mention being the most dedicated”
He added, “the plan for the future is to bring the community back together” he even talked about plans for gaming tournaments “what I would ideally want is 200 people playing Killzone in a tournament but all done in one room over the weekend.”

EA registers Dead Space: Sabotage domain
EA’s registered a new website domain for Dead Space, known as Dead Space: Sabotage.
The publisher created the domain “deadspacesabotage.com” at the end of last month, although for what is unknown.
EA has already revealed details on how the backstory will be told towards the release of Dead Space 2 next year, including the release of an animated feature, a graphic novel and the release of spin-off title Dead Space: Ignition for PSN and XBLA.
In what must be the umpteenth studio opening since the demise of Swedish developer GRIN last year, former staff have set up “Whiteout”.
Whiteout, co-founded by Joel Fagerlund, Simon Rodriguez and Konstantin Schutte, is focusing on developing games for digital markets, and has a CryEngine 3 project under way.
“We’ve got some very exciting concepts under development,” Fagerlund said in a press release.
“We are currently working on a bigger project in CryEngine 3, and thanks to the excellent technology and support from Crytek, we have been able to carefully hand-craft a playable prototype that will knock your socks off.”
Fagerlund said games like Limbo and Hello’s Joe Danger were inspiration behind going digital.
“At GRIN, we saw the community’s extraordinary response to Bionic Commando: Rearmed. Couple that with the fact that new releases such as Limbo and Joe Danger have been so well received, we know that the digital marketplace is vibrant and thriving,” he said.
When Sony launched PlayStation Plus, they released the service with the first Sony published retail PS3 title, inFamous. Allowing PlayStation Plus subscribers access to a 60-minute demo of the full game, it was a feature like no other before it. Since then, no other retail PS3 games have been released, and not many were released prior, though EA did release Burnout: Paradise on PSN. It looks like Sony will be making more retail games available on PSN and it'll be very, very soon.
When asked if more retail games will arrive on PSN, Sony's Jeff Rubenstein replied with: "Stay tuned for the next PS Plus Update!" The wait to see which title it'll be will be over fairly soon, but it's encouraging to see Sony sticking with the plan by offer more retail games over PSN and giving PS Plus subscribers some bang for their buck.
If you had to pick, which title would have Sony add to the PlayStation Store next?
EA's gearing up to announce "several" Kinect and PlayStation Move titles at Gamescom later this month, EA Play label head Rod Humble has revealed.
"We're going to have several titles out for those systems (Move/Kinect)," said Humble in an interview with GamesIndustry.biz. "We'll reveal them at GamecCom (sic)."
"If you look at our portfolio you can easily guess how motion control fits in with that. We'll talk some more about those in Germany."
So what could they be? Well EA Play is primarily responsible for The Sims brand, including MySims and the upcoming 360/PS3 release of The Sims 3. We wouldn't bet against the motion tech being integrated somewhere in there.
The label also looks after the EA Hasbro titles, which have previously included games like Monopoly, Connect 4 and Battleships. It's not too difficult to see how motion control could fit in there. Beyond that though, we've no idea.
EA, of course, has already announced that upcoming survival horror Dead Space 2 will be compatible with PlayStation Move, alongside the bonus game included with the PS3-exclusive Limited Edition, Dead Space: Extraction.
Gamescom opens its doors on August 18th with EA's press conference taking place the night before. We'll be at both, so check back here for more on EA's plans for Move and Kinect in a couple of weeks' time.

Irrational’s confirmed the public will get its first sighting of the studio’s new game, codenamed Project Icarus, next Thursday in a debut trailer for it.
It’ll come a day after the game will be shown to US press in New York next Wednesday.
“Next week, we’ll begin breaking that long silence and start speaking out,” said Irrational’s Shawn Elliott in a special episode on the studio’s podcast.
“On August 12, we’ll show you a trailer and tell you about our title. We’ll explore that trailer’s secrets in another longer episode of Irrational Behaviour. And finally, you’ll learn about a live demo that we’re showing to press before you see it for yourself.”
People have also been ringing a special phone number to guess what game the studio has been making. You can hear what was said, every from a new IP and SWAT 5 to System Shock 3 and BioShock 3, on the podcast. Listen to it anyways, just for the SWAT rap.
In the meantime, time to keep the eyes glued on whatisicarus.com to see if any hints come about before then.
