The Entertainment Software Rating Board has revealed a new upcoming multiplatform title, Scourge: Outbreak. The third-person shooter is likely related to The Scourge Project (you can check out some screens from that game in the slideshow to the left of this article), which was released for the PC in North America on Apr 9, 2010, as it shares the same publisher.
Scourge: Outbreak received an M (for Mature) rating due to blood, strong language and violence. You can check out some of the first details on the game from the full rating summary provided by the ESRB below:
In this third-person shooter, players assume the role of elite mercenaries battling a power-hungry corporation. Players use machine guns, shotguns, pistols, and explosives to kill human soldiers and alien creatures in frenetic combat; achievements are awarded for specific kills (e.g., Slaughter – “Kill 25 enemies in a row without dying or being incapacitated”). Realistic gunfire/explosions can be heard throughout, and wounded enemies emit splashes of blood when shot. Close-range attacks result in blood droplets on players' screen, and some environments are littered with bloody corpses. At the end of one boss sequence, a character uses two grenades to blow himself up—the camera quickly fades to black. The word “f**k” can be heard in the dialogue.
