Pocos juegos puedes descubrirlos por primera vez después de 25 años de su salida y que sigan pareciendo una obra de arte casi redonda en todos sus aspectos. Esperaba notarle muchas costuras tras tanto tiempo pero, aunque las tiene, sus virtudes siguen vigentes y son muchas. Una buena sorpresa la que me he llevado antes de terminar el año

THE QUARRY: 7,5 / UNTIL DAWN: 8
Los pongo juntos por que sus virtudes y sus defectos son casi los mismos. Es cierto que The Quarry opta más por ser un juego accesible que sólo depende de tus decisiones y Until Dawn es un pelín más exigente en los QTE, pero por lo demás ambos tienen su fuerte en su atmósfera y en utilizar muy bien los tropos del cine de terror slasher a su favor y su punto debil en un diseño de personajes que parece salido de un brainstorming de hacer idiotas. Pero se disfrutan un montón, ambos muy por encima de los The Dark Pictures (al menos de los dos primeros, que son los que jugué) que tienen muchísimos más problemas de ritmo.

Aunque esta tarde le daré un rato al Breath of the Wild, seguramente, es improbable que lo termine ni tengo intención de hacerlo así que cierro con dos juegos hermanos el año que más he jugado en mi vida, en parte por una baja larga tras una operación que me dejó varios meses en pleno verano (que si aún fuera en invierno, pero no, en pleno verano XD) en casa, en parte por que he jugado mucho juego corto (indies y mucha aventura gráfica clásica) en detrimento de mundos abiertos muy largos (y los pocos que jugué me motivaron menos a perderme por el mundo que otros), y en parte por que ha sido el año en que, de manera definitiva, los videojuegos se han convertido en mi principal medio de ocio por encima del cine. Además de un cambio laboral a mejor que me ha dejado mucho más tiempo libre. Con todo, dudo que vuelva a jugar ni la mitad de juegos en un año que este.
Los juegos que más disfruté del año, por motivos difentes, diría que fueron Disco Elysium, Control, Return to Monkey Island y Pentiment (entre esos dos últmos estaría mi personal GOTY, pero claro, ni Elden Ring ni God of War, unánimemente considerados los dos mejores, son de mi rollo XD ).
Una cosa que llevaba tiempo queriendo hacer (aparte de desempolvar el ScummVM) era rejugar toda la parte clásica de Resident Evil a través de los remakes y por orden cronológico de los sucesos que narran, pues había jugado cada uno cuando salió. Me faltó el Code Verónica, pero lo disfruté mucho, la verdad.

Ha sido dejar el Crisis Core, ponerme con Psychonauts 2 (no creía que me diese tiempo a terminarlo este año) y no parar de jugar hasta sacarle el platino.

Si lo hubiese jugado cuando salió para mí sería el indiscutible GOTY de 2021. Toda una obra maestra, sin más. Tampoco es que sea un fan de los plataformas 3D pero lo de este juego es un escándalo. Un must play de manual.

Acabado por segunda vez este año, casi con un año de diferencia. Pero esta vez en PS5.

Se ha convertido en mi juego de plataformas favorito. La saga no me hacía mucha gracia en su versión 2D pero éste me encanta en todo. Gráficos, jugabilidad y banda sonora, simplemente magistral. Espero como agua de mayo una segunda parte de esta versión.

Último juego del año para Nier Replicant Ver 1.22... con su 5 rutas acabadas.

Juegazo con una historía muy buena, especialmente el trasfondo y como se van añadiendo matices en sucesivas rutas, en el que destaco como aspectos sobresalientes la banda sonora, personajes (Emil me encanta) y esa ambientación tan caracteristica que te deja una sensación rara de nostalgia y tristeza que también conseguía Automata.

A nivel jugable tiene un sistema de combate sencillo, no muy profundo pero divertido y ágil que motiva a combinar magias y armas. No es ni mucho menos la maravilla insuperable de Automata pero tampoco es lo que busca. Lo que mas me ha gustado a nivel jugable son los jefes y lo variado que resulta con homenajes constantes a otros juegos (destaco el homenaje a Resident Evil)...

Como punto débil destaco, secundarias bastante mediocres y que tanto las rutas B y C/D jugablemente son repetir el último tercio del juego lo cual hace que sobretodo si se juega de seguido se resienta el ritmo... En este sentido Automata si que estaba genialmente planteado proponiendo cambios jugables, tramos distintos y toda una nueva ruta. Pese a ello los añadidos a nivel de historia que se dan en estas rutas son realmente buenos y finalmente la ruta E es genial pese a lo corta que se hace.

Pues siendo honesto me ha decepcionado un poco. No tanto porque sea un mal juego, que en absoluto lo es, sino porque creo que yo venía con expectativas algo elevadas para lo que realmente ha sido. La ambientación del juego es muy buena y visualmente es precioso, las cosas como son, pero no me han terminado de gustar los personajes y se hace repetitivo al poco rato de empezar (consejo: desbloquear las mejoras que permiten moverse y absorber lo más rápido posible). Quiero decir, básicamente lo que haces en 3/4 del juego es absorber y absorber. Sin embargo, la parte final me ha encantado, con situaciones algo más complejas, que no difíciles, pero que me han acabado enganchando y con un combate final que también me ha gustado bastante. Una pena que el juego se corte justo ahí, aunque no le añadiría más duración como he leído por algunos sitios porque ya se haría muy largo, sino que esos momentos complejos deberían empezar antes. En cualquier caso, recomendable si se quiere echar un ratillo diferente.

Pues al final el viaje dio para más de lo que pensaba y me quedaba menos de lo que pensaba, y añado un último juego a la lista. Me gusta terminar el año con BotW por que lo empecé como en enero y lo jugué a baja intensidad durante todo el año hasta que en diciembre ya me dediqué a ir a por la historia. El número de horas ni lo sé. No tengo mucho que decir de él que no se haya dicho ya en estos 5 años que tardé en jugarlo. Siendo yo un novato en la saga Zelda me daba miedo empezar por su 12º juego pero no he tenido problema por ahí. El juego es apabullante, tanto que al principio me echó para atrás y al final me apasionó como pocos juegos de mundo abierto.
Este año que empieza espero poder conocer un poco más la saga (hoy mismo empiezo el A Link to the Past) y Tears of the Kingdom ya se ha convertido en mi juego más esperado del próximo año.
Ahora sí, nos vemos en 2023.

Quería intentar completar algún juego más antes de cerrar el año pero me ha sido imposible. Cierro el año con 33 juegos completados (algo menos que años anteriores). El exceso de trabajo me ha impedido jugar tanto como hubiera querido. Para mí las sorpresas del año han sido:

Alien Isolation. Obra de arte, fiel representación de la película original. Te mantiene en tensión en todo momento.

Observation. Gameplay original e historia que te atrapa enseguida.

Immortality. Sam Barlow lo ha bordado con esta magnífica aventura. Tarda en arrancar pero una vez lo hace no querrás soltar el mando hasta averiguar que ha sido de Marissa Marcel.

Para terminar el año y redondear la cifra a 40 juegos me he terminado uno cortito, que además ya tenía empezado, de la colección Cowabunga en su versión Super Nintendo. Juego bastante regular hasta para la época, la verdad. Además demasiado corto.

Comparado con años anteriores es el que más me ha cundido y eso que he repetido varios juegos bastante largos como Elden Ring.

Para empezar el año tengo algunas obras maestras por terminar como Dark Souls 2, The Witcher 3 o Bloodborne que lo dejé abandonado por distintas circunstacias. Y es que me suele pasar que quiero probar muchos juegos y al final me termino enganchando a cualquier otro y voy dejando pendientes auténticos juegazos que por pereza u olvido no llego a terminar.

Pues al final se ha quedado así, mucho juego pendiente, mucho juegazo y con un principio de año que cogí con muchas ganas pero que a final de éste me he desinchado mucho.

No tengo ganas de jugar a nada últimamente. Ojalá que eso cambie de aquí a poco [decaio]

Pues estos tres han sido los últimos antes de acabar el año (aunque el mensaje lo ponga hoy), en cuanto al god of war, al principio le hubiera dado fácilmente un 9,5, pero según avanzaba y completaba todo (tengo el platino del 100%) mi opinión fue cambiando. Es un grandísimo juego sin duda, pero por momentos era pesadísimo y alargado, para mi gusto hubiera recortado un poco de algunas cosas y se hubiera quedado redondo del todo.

Del Vampire survivors no tengo mucho que decir, una absoluta maravilla que en cuanto coges el mando no lo sueltas.

Y por ultimo signalis, grata sorpresa indie rollo resident evil que os recomiendo que le deis un intento. [beer]

Terminé el año con este. Un poco batiburrillo, no sé si me acaba de convencer, pero bueno a falta de otra cosa buena es la metadona. El asalto al KGB y la salida blindados, una flipada surrealista pero divertida jajajaja. Demasiado corto, eso si, tendré que rejugarlo en un nivel superior de dificultad.
