Samsung Galaxy S3 launching in April, according to reportsThe Samsung Galaxy S3 will be launched next month, according to our sister site ZDNet Korea. So best start saving now.
Our Korean is a little rusty, but the site says it's been talking with Cheil Worldwide, an ad agency owned by the Samsung Group, confirming that the S3 will launch in April, with the UK playing host to an ad campaign based around the London 2012 Olympics.
Samsung is a major Olympic sponsor, so it would make sense for the S3 to be released and bundled into shops in time for the games' opening ceremony in July. We might even see the launch event taking place in London, which would save us a trip to the airport.
Seeing as the S3 launch event hasn't been confirmed yet, April wouldn't give Samsung much time to announce the phone and then get it into shops. But on the other hand, Apple has been known to show off new gadgets and then have them on sale just a few days later, so it can be done.
Samsung is a leaf out of Apple's book, choosing not to show off the S3 at the recently concluded Mobile World Congress show in Barcelona -- instead opting to run with radically less interesting devices like the Galaxy Beam, which is an Android phone with a projector built in. Yup.
We know for sure that the follow-up to the wildly popular Galaxy S2 will be unveiled during the first half of the year, because Samsung has confirmed that in a statement.
The S3's specs leaked last week, so when we eventually see it, expect a quad-core processor, a 1080p screen, a ceramic case and Android Ice Cream Sandwich on board. Sounds intriguing, non?
