Having drawn much flak for the restrictive DRM policies of its new Xbox One console, Microsoft is setting itself up for yet another battle. Alan Bowman, Microsoft's regional vice president for Sales and Marketing in Asia, told the Wall Street Journal that the Asia launch would only take place in late 2014.
The executive justified the move as a "staged approach" to marketing the console, and that the company was working on ensuring a "great experience for customers" in the region by offering localized content.
Furthermore, the device would be only available in selected Asian markets such as Hong Kong, India, Singapore, South Korea and Taiwan.
There's no word on whether Japan is included in this list, but we're guessing the software company would make that country a priority or lose out to the PlayStation 4 when it debuts in its home country.
We are also currently checking with Sony for the PS4's availability in Asia and will update as soon as we know.
