Hansi a long-time valued member of PSX-SCENE has spent huge chunk of his personal money, in buying a very special USB Analyzer called the Beagle!
In his first day of playing around this new wonderful toy of his, he used it of course to make a dump of the normal PS3KEY boot-up and later on which is the main reason for all this fancy hardware the PSDowngrade
PSDowngrade / Ps3 jig USB traffic protocol scan
Hardware Used: Beagle USB 480 Protocol Analyzer Support - Total Phase
You need to use Beagle Data Center Software to be able to read the attached dumps.
One file is a normal PS3KEY boot, the other is a PSDowngrade boot.
The PSDowngrade is supposed to be encrypted and NOT analyzeable according to a distributor!
But maybe something can be learned anyway.
Have fun!
Hopefully some good things will come out of this in a few days by our many talented payload developers we have right here on PSX-SCENE!
Our many thanks to Hansi for spending his hard-earned cash on this project and helping out everyone!
Re-read the video description. We used a psjailbreak re-programmed with the psdowngrade "one-time-only" downgrader. The blue "beagle" box was just used to take a look at the USB data between the PS3 and the psdowngrade.
From what I understand, you cant just use the USB data we scanned to reproduce the psdowngrade behaviour. There is a challenge response protocol, meaning that the data "talk" between the dongle and the ps3 will always be different.
