@erlos ayer confundí tú GD-IDE con el GD-Emu así que me equivoqué, lo tuyo no sabía ni que existía. Ya contarás.

Hola compañeros, yo soy de Murcia y también me han llegado.
En mi caso, pedi los dos modelos, tanto para conservar el lector, como la plaquita que lo sustituye completamente, a lo largo de esta semana pasaré un analisis rulando.

Por 20€ está muy bien para quien sepa soldar la verdad, a ver que podéis decir compatibilidad y estética final de la consola. El modelo que conserva el lector me tienta mucho si encuentro algún manitas que me lo ponga.

Pues la placa que sustituye el lector, ya la tengo montada, y se queda tal que así, cuando llegue a casa le hago unas fotos puesta en la consola para que os hagais una idea.



Me faltaría hacer el dual bios a la dreamcast, y eso va a tocar este fin de semana.

Pues ya pude soldar la placa al gd rom y hacer algunas pruebas. La instalacion es muy facil, solo hay que tener un pelin de practica con el soldador porque los tornillos del propio gd rom te sujetan la placa por la parte de arriba y solo hay que ir soldando los puntos sin miedo a que se te mueva. Les comento que me pasaron 2 cosas durante las pruebas, quizas no les pase a ustedes, pero las comento por si acaso. La primera es que despues de varias pruebas la consola dejo de arrancar del todo, se quedaba pillado en el logo de Dreamcast. Esto es debido a que con la vibracion del gd rom haciendo girar el disco, el conector del gd rom se va desplazando y deja de hacer buen contacto. Se soluciona poniendole los 3 tornillos al gd rom para que quede bien conectado y no se mueva con la vibracion (quizas les parezca una tonteria, pero a mi me tubo casi 2 horas dando vueltas hasta que me di cuenta del fallo). La segunda cosa que me paso es que no me cargaban los juegos, el DreamShell detectaba el disco duro perfectamente y podia ver los backups que tengo dentro, pero al iniciar alguno, o se reiniciaba la consola o directamente se quedaba con un pantallazo negro. Esto es debido a que estaba usando un cable IDE de 40 pines, al cambiar a uno de 80 pines cargaron todos a la primera. Esto ultimo es curioso, porque el mod del HDD con cable IDE soldado a la placa de la Dreamcast, se hace con un cable de 40 pines y en la web de Dragoncity dice que SI se puede usar un cable IDE de 40 pines, raro, pero asi fue. Espero que estoy le pueda ser de utilidad a alguien aunque parezca una tonteria.

Despues de subsanar todo esto y hacer varias pruebas, todo funciona perfectamente. Estoy alimentando un disco duro de 3,5" de forma externa con la fuente de alimentacion de un pc. Mande a pedir a nuestra pagina china favoria 2 adaptadores, uno de IDE a SATA y otro de IDE a CF. Mi idea es hacer pruebas de los mismos backups con ambos adaptadores y el que mejor rendimiento en cuanto a velocidad de carga y compatibilidad se refiere, sera el que deje definitivamente en la consola. Tan pronto como me lleguen los adaptadores y haya hecho las pruebas, dejare por aqui mis conclusiones para que sirvan como guia a otros usuarios.

Mi intencion es eliminar el lector gd rom, y en su lugar pondre el sistema de almacenamiento que gane las pruebas, y para ello diseñare algun soporte ,que imprimire con una impresora 3D, que permita dejar fijo y estetico el dispositivo de almacenamiento final. Tambien dejare el diseño por aqui para quien quiera usarlo.

Pues por ahora esto es lo que fui avanzando, seguire comentando.

@MaKinorris que tal el mod que sustituye por completo al gd rom?? Hiciste alguna prueba?? Hace buen contacto el conector?? O se cae por el peso del adaptador CF??

@erlos pues lo que es el conector del gdrom se queda perfectamente. Pero como podrás leer me toca quitar y volver a soldar el conector ide de forma correcta.

@erlos @MaKinorris preguntilla tonta, la compatibildad es la misma de siempre que usando el mod IDE con Dreamshell no? Supongo que todavía no habéis hecho pruebas así que sin prisas, sólo lo pregunto para saber.

Disculpen por tardar tanto en responder, pero estaba a tope de curro y no he podido tocar nada hasta este finde.

Pues les cuento...

Me llegaron los adaptadores que pedi (uno ide/CF y el otro ide/sata), compre unos de los que se recomiendan en la web de DragonCity.
Primero empece haciendo pruebas con un disco ide de 3,5", para ir viendo compatibilidades de juegos y que el mod estubiera bien hecho. Todo sin problemas.
Asi que empece a hacer pruebas con el adaptador ide/CF (le meti a la CF la carpeta "DS" que hay en la web de DragonCity) y tambien funciono todo bien con la ultima version del Dreamshell cargada desde el lector con un cd.
Una vez probados varios juegos (3 o 4) y ver que todo iba bien, decidi probar el adaptador ide/sata, y aqui empezaron mis problemas...
Prepare un disco duro sata de 2,5" con la carpeta DS y varios juegos, conecte todo y arranque con el Dreamshell. La primera vez arranco, el boot loader detecto el disco duro pero ahi se quedo colgado, no llego al menu de Dreamshell. Despues de eso no ha vuelto a funcionar nada, ni el adaptador ide/cf ni el disco duro de 3,5", no lee juegos originales ni backups de los mismos.
Inicio la consola y siempre se queda colgado en el logo de inicio de Dreamcast.
Hice mil pruebas, comprabar las soldaduras, calibrar la lente del gd rom, cambiar el cable ide de 80 pines, probe el gd rom completo en otra Dreamcast... nada sirvio.
Me resulta super extraño todo esto, por conectar el adaptador ide/sata todo dejo de funcionar.
Alguien sabe que es lo que puede ser?? Pueder ser que se haya estropeado la controladora del gd rom?? Los condensadores quizas??
Decir tambien, que el disco gira perfectamente y al parecer lo lee, pero se queda pillado en el logo de inicio de Dreamcast. Si enciendo la consola sin un cd insetado, llega al menu, pero al insertar un disco me dice "inserte un disco" o algo similar.
Tambien decir, que MUY rara vez, me coge los cd's como discos de musica.

Pues lo dicho, si alguien puede arrojarme un poco de luz, le estare muy agradecido y asi poder seguir probando el mod del adaptador de DragonCity.

@Calculinho la compatibilidad, segun las pocas pruebas que hice, es la misma. Si resuelvo este problema seguire haciendo pruebas y te voy dando mas datos.

Por lo que entiendo, con esta versión ya funciona el shenmue1 ? Esto funciona con el mod para disco duro tradicional?

So the solution is to use SD MOD,and boot dreamshell in SD !

But now your problem if I understand,dreamcast block on SWIRL (before menu).
So this problem is a BIOS PROBLEM,need to check all solder.
Put solder all Pin again,and test again.

After your problem for the DISC,maybe the lens,clean it with alcohol,and and set the potentiometer to 900 Ohms.

It's difficult like that to help you,make video when you have a problem it's better for understand

@DragonCity thanks for answering. The bios I have not touched, so I do not think that is that, I have also tried another reader (controller + lens) in this console and works perfectly, read all kinds of CDs without problems. What else do you think it could be?

As a desperate measure, I changed all the capacitors of the controller of the gd rom, since I read in a thread that it could be that, but it still does not work ...

He instalado la placa de Dragoncity, colocado el adaptador CF y se me queda la pantalla en negro. La instalacion está correcta. Cable ide de 40 hilos.

Tengo la bios dual funcionando.

- GD-IDE
- Adaptor CF with 5V

Sometimes it's depend of the CF card,need to use Pin 1.

For the SATA Pin 1 is a big problem, and it should not be soldered, but for the CF sometimes it must be soldered.

So solder Pin 1 and the jumper beside

I use the same CF adapter like you in your videos, and I have seen that somebody in this forum has it installed and working. So CF adapter isnt the problem.

My Dc has the bios flashed from Dreamshell (cd) and works fine. I dont remember what bios is, the first of last dreamshell (devkit I think).

GD-IDE installed without pin 1, all points checked with gd connector and all ok.

I am using a 80 wires IDE cable, but I cut it. You can see the pics I sent you to your mail.

Don't cut IDE cable...there is a problem "sometimes" when you cut the IDE cable in the middle..

@dragoncity I havent tested with CF Card, only with CF Adapter...(well, 1 time I tried with CF card) but same result, black screen (no signal).

If I solder pin 1, have I to solder the bridge in your gd-ide board ?

Dreamcast works perfect. Can load original games and backups, dual bios working perfect too...drive yamaha.

Dont mind the CF adapter position, always no signal. With or without VCC/Gnd connected (in the Cf adapter)

The IDE / CF adapter is reversed, we can not do this, clearly if you check you will see that

Pins 1 and 2 for example are opposite, they are connected to Pin 39 and 40.

@dragocity , working now, I have soldered in your board the wires and I have used a male ide conector, now is working fine.

A note, if I took VCC from Dc board, dreamshell stucks at "boot menu" but taking Vcc from Gd-rom drive, works perfect.

a la hora de marcar para hacer el envio hay que marcar el envio internacional.
digamos que marcas todos los articulos que vas a comprar mas el envio internacional
que seria como un articulo mas.
no funciona como en otras tiendas que automaticamente te lo calcula y te lo suma.

en cuanto a los modelos ,depende de tus preferencias "quiero conservar mi lector o no",yo en mi caso pedi el gd1 ata top, que a diferencia del bottom lleva el conector ide por la parte de arriba.
si vas a conservar el lector ya te vas al otro modelo.

Gracias, ya he visto como van los pedidos, lo pediré más adelante, que ya me he gastado el presupuesto que tenía, espero que no se agoten.

Yo diría que no. Puedes soldar en la placa base o en la controladora GD, su placa solo te facilita las soldaduras, pero diferencia como tal...

You can put IDE 80 Pins,better compatibility with hard disk.
And it's easier for install,IDE MOD..1hour..or more..and not easy for all.
GD-IDE 2 minutes for me

And for finish it's very clean with an pcb.
