GDC organisers have just announced it’s to host the “the first public presentation” of Thief 4 at this year’s event in San Francisco in March.
Eidos Montreal’s Paul Weir will “argue for the benefits of using generative music in games… I will show our custom generative system (GRAMPS), demonstrate its key design features and suggest some best practice techniques.”
Weir added that he intends to show “how using a single person as the composer, sound designer and audio director on a AAA title can help create a unified sound field.”
It’s the first formal mention of the game since it was announced in May 2009. Literally nothing else has been announced since, with Eidos Montreal working on Deus Ex: Human Revolution.
Organisers have also confirmed a second Battlefield 3 talk for the show, featuring “SPU-based Deferred Shading in Battlefield 3 for PlayStation 3″, to be held by DICE’s Christina Coffin.
A previously announced Battlefield 3 talk by DICE’s Kenny Magnusson will also take place at the Moscone Center
GDC takes place between February 28-March 4
Square Enix has just announced the Tomb Raider Trilogy pack for PS3 on Blu-ray.
The pack will contain Tomb Raider: Legend, Tomb Raider: Anniversary and the previously released Tomb Raider: Underworld.
It’ll release on March 25. It’ll also feature a theme pack, a female Lara Croft Home avatar outfit, the viking thrall male Home avatar outfit and “and a collection of “making of” trailers in HD for the entire series.”
Medal of Honor dev Danger Close is working on an “unannounced AAA first person shooter title,” according to job listing the LA studio’s posted out this afternoon.
The team’s looking for a senior gameplay engineer and a weapons and vehicles expert.
The weapons and vehicles expert listing is also asking for experience in “a multiplayer focused game”.
All bets are off. Medal of Honor 2, then.
Game Informer’s editor Andrew Reiner has just announced which new PS3/Xbox 360 sequel will get a reveal.
He confirmed that it would be the new Silent Hill game on his twitter account
“The game I was talking about this week is Silent Hill. Unfortunately, I can’t reveal the full name of it yet.”
He didn’t mention the full name however and we’ll have to wait just a bit more to know it.
Silent Hill was originally teased at E3 2010 for PC, PS3 and Xbox 360.
We’ll keep you updated.
According to the latest ESRB listings update, two more PSOne Classics are coming soon to the North American Playstation Store.
The first of which is Reel Fishing II, which was first released in 2000. The fisingh simulator will be joining its prequel on the Playstation Network, which was re-released on November 25, 2009. Reel Fishing II received an E for Everyone rating.
Romance of the Three Kingdoms IV: Wall of Fire will also become a PSOne Classic. The fourth game in the long running turn-based series received an E for Everyone rating for violence.
Both games will be re-published by Sony Computer Entertainment America when they are released on the North American Playstation Store for the PSP and Playstation 3.
THQ's Executive Vice President for Core Games Danny Bilson is excited about a THQ press event in New York slated for some time next week and for good reason. According to two recent tweets by the VP, THQ has a lot left to reveal, including some "surprises" and "five new games".
Here's what the actual tweets say:
"Heading to NYC next week for big THQ 3 day press event. Surprises and secrets to be revealed..."
"5 new games to show in NYC next week plus one big change up. #newTHQ"
Perhaps the most intriguing element here is the hint of a "New THQ". The company could be reorganizing or perhaps rebranding or even launching an entirely new line of licensed games, a historical THQ stand-by. And with the announcement of five new games on the table, any kind of IP or partnership is possible.
Stay tuned to GamerNode for the announcements as they develop.

Torchlight took the PC world by storm when it released late in 2009. Offering a Diablo-style of dungeon crawling and loot collecting, it was an instant success. Now, with the 360 release on the horizon, PS3 owners want to know when will it come to PSN.
Earlier this week, at CES, it was announced that Torchlight would be coming to the 360 next month, unfortunately PS3 owners were left without any word of it coming our way. Sadly, today on Runic Games official forums, we received some unfortunate news.
When a member of the forums asked the question if it would be coming to the PSN, Runic staff member travisbaldree had this to say:
No PS3 plans to speak of. Microsoft is acting as the publisher on this one. And given how much work it was to get one console game done, I’m a little relieved we didn’t attempt both platforms at once anyway
From the looks of that statement, we won’t be seeing Torchlight on the PSN anytime soon. Although, if you read the last part again, he did say he was glad they didn’t attempt both platforms at once, so that could simply mean they will start work on the PS3 version after the release of the 360 version. Either way it will be quite sometime until PS3 fans will see Torchlight come our way.

So the game goes in a slightly different direction than the previous one by Telltale Games. The entire game is designed a little more seriously, and in a dark setting. The gameplay is a mix of action sequences, puzzles, and Quick Time Events, which are compared with Heavy Rain. The game will return to play and an episode is to be published this spring. Here are the first images of Jurassic Park

It is no secret by now that Bungie has moved on to multi-platform game development after releasing Halo: Reach last September. What their next game may be is currently a mystery but a noted internet sleuth may have found some clues.
A fellow by the name of supererogatory supposedly retired from digging up secrets about upcoming games that developers and publishing companies would like to keep secret. But he has returned to Twitter to reveal some dirt he has dug up.
Doing a hunt at the US Copyright Office (search for "bungie") turned up the following names registered by Bungie back in July of 2010 - Seven Seraphs, Osiris, New Monarchy, and Dead Orbit. He also points out that three domains were registered using the same terms back in late September.
He does go on to mention that these names are registered under artwork but that these can be used in "promotion and marketing like logos."
Bungie is now under the Activision banner and what their next game may be is currently up in the air. However, these names sound sci-fi enough which is right in the developer's wheelhouse but they have done fantasy games before as well.
Here are the domain registrations that were found.
* DeadOrbit.com
* DeadOrbit.net
* DeadOrbit.org
* NewMonarchy.org
* SevenSeraphs.com
* SevenSeraphs.net
* SevenSeraphs.org
The registration information used for these seven domain names is the same as BungieAerospace.
The publisher confirmed to the media it will host an unveil event for the game on Mar. 1, 2011, taking place during the week of the Game Developers Conference in San Francisco. Additionally, EA says it will also have new game announcements as well as hands-on time with many upcoming titles, including: Shadows of the Damned, Alice Madness Returns, Kingdom of Amalur: Reckoning, and Crysis 2.
Those who purchased the Limited Edition of Medal of Honor this past fall received an invitation to the Battlefield 3 beta. Details about the beta's release date have not been announced.
Battlefield 3 is expected to ship in 2011.

Ubisoft’s told VG247 that it will “not comment on rumor or speculation” in relation to Game Informer listing Far Cry 3 as an August 2011 release.
GI listed the game for August in its 2011 preview earlier this month.
Far Cry 3 development began before the global release of Far Cry 2 in October 2008.
Far Cry 2 narrative lead Patrick Redding told VG247 that Ubi Montreal was at the “preliminary stages” with the “next game” in the Far Cry series at Leipzig’s Games Convention in 2008, and that the team now has a “commitment to the African setting.”
Swedish retailer Webhallen and the Swedish branch of GAME both published listings for Far Cry 3 in August 2010, saying, “Rumours suggest this time the game will be played out in Africa but with an even larger world and with a completely updated Dunia engine.”

City Interactive’s just confirmed that a sequel to Sniper: Ghost Warrior is currently in development.
Michal Sroczynski, chief producer at City Interactive, revealed the news during a yet-to-be-published interview with Eurogamer.se.
The game’s powered by CryEngine 3. It’s still unknown if it’ll be titled Sniper: Ghost Warrior 2 or something else.
It’s coming to PS3, Xbox 360 and PC. No word on the game’s release plans yet.
Sniper: Ghost Warrior released for PC and Xbox 360 last summer to a middling reception.
A PS3 version, which fixes all problems present in the previous version, will be releasing in February, the dev informed.

While it was announced at gamescom last year, S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 has been furnished with virtually no information. That’s all apparently changed today.
A Q&A posted by developer GSC Game World on the game’s official Facebook page has revealed a bevy of new information. Here are the best bits.
First off, the game will be offering a completely new story and will be powered by a completely new engine.
New characters will also be introduced, with some old ones making a comeback.
The developer stressed that it will be laying more focus on the survival element fans have come to love in the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. series.
Fans have also been assured that, even though the game has gone multi-platform, there will be no compromises when it comes to developing the PC version, and that they can actually expect it to be visually superior than its console counterparts.
New mutants will be making an appearance in S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2, and you can expect the game to take place in the CNPP triangle, the cities of Chernobyl and Chernobyl 2, and lots of X-Labs and secret underground complexes.
GSC refused to confirm if Sidorovich will be making a comeback in the sequel, and also declined to put a number on the weapons present in the title.
The company has now confirmed, however, that the game will supprt DirectX 11.
You can read the full QnA over here.
S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 is in the works for PS3, 360 and PC, and has no release date.
Alongside today’s news that the 23rd film within the ever popular James Bond franchise is set to enter production within late 2011 for a release November 9th 2012, comes a more gaming related note.
It has been revealed, as one would expect, that development of a further James Bond videogame that had already been in the works was held up due to the uncertainty surrounding the future of both MGM Studios and the rights to the franchise. Now that such issues have been settled, work on the project is reportedly confirmed to have now been continued.

Electronic Arts has an impressive lineup planned for the Game Developers Conference this March. The company’s announced a press event to be held the day before GDC where members of the press can get hands-on time with their games and interviews with the developers.
Here’s what they’re bringing:
* Alice: Madness Returns
* Crysis 2
* Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning
* Shadows of the Damned
* Battlefield 3
* Battlefield Play4Free
Battlefield 3 will also have its own reveal event. Alice, Shadows of the Damned, and Kingdoms pretty much steal it for me, though
According to a trademark filing found by Siliconera, Grasshopper has trademarked the name Diabolical Pitch.
The name could be the full title of the developer’s Kinect project that was announced at Tokyo Game Show last September, Codename D.
The trailer for that showed off a creepy fairground with all sorts of stuff happening within.
It’s due out sometime this year according to comments from Grasshopper’s Suda 51 in Tokyo last autumn.
505 Games and Kung Fu Studios has released new screens and a couple trailers of Supremacy MMA, which was announced last year at E3.
Today, it was announced that Jens Pulver, the first UFC Light-Weight UFC Champion, would appear as the in-game coach and that he also contributed to the development of the game.
You can check out two videos for the game below. A gameplay trailer courtesy of Game Front, and the Jens Pulver trailer courtesy of Evil Avatar.
The gameplay trailer features a fighter getting his leg broken, and writhing around on the floor. Looks very brutal, and deserving of its M rating.
Supremacy MMA is slated for a summer release on PS3 and Xbox 360
Mortal Kombat: HD Arcade Kollection was a rumored game pack which included three classic Mortal Kombat titles (Mortal Kombat, Mortal Kombat II and Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3). All three titles were to be remade in High Definition and there were even rumors of a playable demo of the new upcoming Mortal Kombat 2011.
The title was considered a rumored project and gamers considered it to be cancelled. However, according to a freelance 3D artist the HD Arcade Kollection pack is a go. Patrick Delmastro has confirmed through his resume that he is working on the game. You can scroll down his resume to see the necessary information, it also mentions that the Arcade Kollection is going to be a PS3 exclusive only. That’s one more feather for Sony’s cap for the 2011 exclusivity war.

Domain name and copyright registry-spotting genius superannuation has spotted an interesting new domain name registration by the guys at Square Enix - finalfantasy13-2game.com.
The domain name Whois information can be viewed through this link, and shows that the domain registration was filed on Monday 11th January 2011. It's due to expire on the same day in 2013.
Tweeting, superannuation noted that the domain had been registered by "Corporation Service Company" - the same company that has registered domains for other Square Enix titles, including the official website for upcoming third person shooter MindJack, MindJackGame.com.
We've done a little extra investigation on top, and the same company has recently been used to register domains for Front Mission Evolved, Nier and Gun Loco, all major recent or upcoming Square Enix releases.
This makes it pretty damn likely that the registration is indeed from Square Enix - the question now is if the registration is just Square Enix merely domain-name squatting or if they're up to something more interesting - like putting out a full-blown sequel to Final Fantasy XIII. It's worth noting much of the FF13 team came straight off the back of working on Final Fantasy X-2, the first FF main series sequel.
If that's the case, it's likely that this newly registered domain is an indication that we can expect announcements of new Final Fantasy XIII-related games at the Square Enix First Production Department Premiere, which is due to take place next week. We've pinged Square Enix for comment.
We'll be reporting during the event, so be sure to stick with us for the latest Final Fantasy news via our RSS Feed and Twitter Page! If you're into RPGs in general be sure to check out our sister site RPG Site and Follow them on Twitter!
