Activision looks set to release an all-new violent racing game this year, CVG has learnt.
Blood Drive has never been formally announced by the publisher - but has fleetingly cropped up on retail release schedules for Xbox 360 and PS3.
However, the BBFC has today given it a 15 rating in the UK, and revealed that it contains nine minutes of cutscenes and 54 minutes of 'supplementary gameplay footage' - bits where control is taken over by the CPU.
Other than that, we're still in the dark - but we have found a listing on Amazon.com in the US
According to the retailer, Blood Drive is due for release in late October. The 'not final' packshot (which you can see here) also reveals that at least part of the game will take place in Las ('Lost') Vegas.
Its product description reads:
* Motorized Vehicles on Steroids: THE CARS ARE THE STARS! Battle-hardened & itching to be modded with killer weaponry and armor pick-ups
* Zombies with Attitude: Diverse and interesting zombies lifted from the streets of faux Vegas, each replete with unique attitudes and innovative ways to kill them
* Rewarding motorized combat with enemy vehicles, including souped-up muscle cars, hot rods, wreckers, and more
* Tournament Structured Gameplay: Enter the most gruesome and violent tournament on earth. Battle through 10 plus events and different levels in the ultimate fight for your life
* Multiplayer Bloodbath: With Online and LIVE play, the game is a target-rich environment with drop-in, drop-out playability
It adds: 'It's the entertainment sport for a twisted new age: contestants in weaponized cars battle the undead and each other in an orgy of ultra violence. [Shaun] of the Dead meets Mad Max in Death Race, set amongst the sinful and greedy fallout aftermath of a zombie-infested Vegas-like city. You have stepped into the bloodiest sports arena on the planet. Can you drive, shoot and mutilate your way to the top?'
The BBFC reports that the game: 'Contains strong language and gory violence.'
By that description and the name alone, we're expecting it to be more Carmageddon and less Gran Turismo.
