LucasArts is busy creating a next-gen Star Wars: Starfighter game - and could even reveal it at E3.
That's according to a US publishing source close to the Californian company, who today told CVG that a title is being readied for Xbox 360 and PS3.
The air combat/action Starfighter series was released in two iterations on PC, PS2 and Xbox.
The original game saw players protect Naboo from an invasion. Official PlayStation Magazine awarded the title 9/10.

Respawn teasing “big time announcement” for E3
Respawn Entertainment, Call of Duty creators Jason West and Vince Zampella’s new studio after leaving Infinity Ward, is readying a big announcement for E3 next week.
The teaser comes via a Facebook update on West and Zampella’s wall, reading: “big time announcement at E3 next week. stay tuned, kiddies!”
As for what news the announcement will bring, color me clueless. I doubt they have a game ready to show, considering the studio formed only two months ago. Looks like we’ll have to wait and see.

Rumor: Valve’s E3 surprise is Source Engine 2
A VG247 source has claimed that Valve’s “surprise” at E3 will be the unveiling of Source Engine 2.
The source, who wished to remain anonymous, said it’s possible Valve will be showing Half-Life 3 running on it – which would fit with the firm’s M.O. of showing Half-Life games on new versions of the code.
Half-Life was shown running on GoldSource, while Source debuted in June 2004 with Counter-Strike and Half-Life 2 shown on it.
Rumors surrounding Valve’s plans for E3 have been swirling about since it canceled its Portal 2 event for the conference, stating that a “surprise” would instead be in store for attendees.
Last week, a suspicious looking image taken of the E3 pamphlet that supposedly showed a date of June 14 with the name “Freeman” on it when converted to negative format surfaced.
While very dodgy looking, it still got folks to talking, enough to have Valve head Gabe Newell confirm that it was indeed a “fake”.
We have been told by Valve PR that Gabe himself will not be attending E3, so take all this with a giant pinch of salt.
It’s worth noting, however, that we’ve also been told that whatever Valve plans to reveal at E3 will not happen before either the Microsoft or Sony press conferences on June 14 and 15, respectively. So it’s quite possible that whatever surprise it has in store could happen at one or both of those pressers.
Rest assured, we will be liveblogging both events, so be sure and check in with us so you won’t miss anything.
In the meantime, we’ve mailed Valve for comment, so if we hear anything back we’ll update this post accordingly.

Hi everyone, we’re pleased to announce today plans to bring classic titles from its popular Dreamcast™ console to Xbox LIVE Arcade for the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, and PlayStation®Network later this year. Sonic Adventure™ and Crazy Taxi™ will be the first two classics made available, with Sonic leading the pack in Autumn 2010 for the 11th anniversary of the launch of the Dreamcast in Europe.
Each game is based on the original Dreamcast incarnation, featuring all of the gameplay that older players fell in love with, whilst allowing a new audience to discover it for the very first time. The games incorporate all-new enhancements and features such as high resolution visuals and surround sound. Online leader boards are now implemented, allowing players to compare their skills with friends across the world! In addition to this, all-new Achievement and Trophy integration will be available for each game released.
20608Crazy Taxi (1)Launched in Europe on October 14, 1999, the SEGA Dreamcast is one of the most beloved and critically acclaimed consoles of all time. Featuring a software library of over 650 titles, the system was widely hailed as being ahead of its time, and was the first to introduce online console gaming, with Internet support for games through an inbuilt modem.
“The Dreamcast is fondly remembered by a large community of dedicated fans as a console that was ahead of its time in terms of graphics, quality and online gaming” commented Haruki Satomi, VP of Digital Business at SEGA of America and SEGA Europe. “There are few things that are more requested from us than making Dreamcast classics available for download in today’s digital market place. We’re very excited to begin offering gamers our beloved Dreamcast titles again on the current console systems.”
Sonic Adventure will be available for download in Autumn 2010. Both Sonic Adventure and Crazy Taxi will be on display at SEGA’s booth (#2023) at this year’s Electronic Entertainment Expo.
UTV Ignition Entertainment has been very pleased to see the global support and interest in our upcoming title El Shaddai: Ascension of the Metatron following its recent Japanese debut. We are now proud to announce the game for both the North America and Europe gaming markets.
A recent job listing has revealed that Alan Wake developer Remedy Entertainment is currently working on a new, AAA, Xbox 360 exclusive title.
The Finnish developers only released Wake last month, but it seems they're already looking to the future with a job listing in search of a senior designer.
It reads: "Remedy Entertainment, the creator of Max Payne and Alan Wake, and one of the leading independent game studios in the world is now looking for a Senior Producer for a key position in a AAA console project."
So no word of a platform there, but if you scroll down the page, you'll see:
Categories: Producer / Director / Project Manager
Platforms: Xbox 360
Work Site: On site
Interesting. The game is likely to be in the planning stages, with a good heap of DLC still promised for Alan Wake, starting with "The Signal" which has been announced to be releasing on July 27.

For the long-term fans, rest assured we're not turning our back on the entire glorious sprawl of Rare history - especially with 2010 being the year of our 25th anniversary. For now, though, we're taking the opportunity to capitalise on our work with Avatars and the once-in-a-lifetime opportunities offered by Microsoft's latest system, and we have our hands pretty full with making Kinect Sports as good as we can possibly get it. We'll keep you apprised of its progress in the months ahead.

E3 is a great time for surprises, and wouldn’t it be great if LucasArts finally revealed Battlefront 3? Now I’m not saying they will, but when you get an invitation to come see an “unannounced game in development,” you can’t help but be optimistic. So, being the curious lad that I am, asked whether or not this unannounced title would have lightsabers in it. The answer wasn’t confirmed, but it wasn’t denied either. There has been numerous posts about Battlefront 3 being in the works, then being canceled, so anything is possible.
LucasArts did confirm they were using the Unreal 3 engine for a couple of games; an aerial combat game being one of them. Maybe an X Wing vs Tie Fighter title is in the works? What do you guys think? How about a new Jedi Knight game?
Ubisoft Massive (the multiplayer developers of Assassins's Creed: Revelations and Far Cry 3) are working on a next generation MMO.
There's a job posting up at their site here.
Also, the EGMDaily article posted on the AC2 facebook page here which for some reason is speculating that it's Assassin's Creed, though that speculation seems like it's based off of nothing.
I did a search, didn't see this thread posted but if it was plz lock.
