The combat-heavy adaptation is described as fully customisable in terms of appearance, weapons and fighting style, and tracks the rise of a player creator gladiator from training through to championship. If you’d rather stick to what you know, you can play as Spartacus or Crixus; Liam McIntyre and Manu Bennett contributed to the game somehow, apparently. There will be a ranked online mode, as well as local multiplayer.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, series creator Steven S. DeKnight is an avid gamer and has enjoyed the experience of working with Kung Fu Factory on the fighter.
Screens below; expect a trailer out of Comic Con.

Witcher 2 producer’s new game is Lords of the Fallen
Former CD Projekt RED producer Tomasz Gop has revealed a few more slim details of the new fantasy action RPG project he’s leading at City Interactive.
In an update to his LinkedIn profile, Gop confirmed the game’s title as Lords of the Fallen.
The producer also gave a few more details of the City Interactive title’s plot, which takes place in a medieval fantasy world ruled by a Fallen God and will “allow approaching the conflict between humans and demons from various perspectives”.
Gop said the game will reward “skill and persistence among hardcore Action-RPG fans”, offering both great challenge and great reward, and that battles with the Fallen God’s generals are “one of game’s strongest features”.
More information is promised later this year.
Last time we had an update on the game, it was codenamed Project RPG, said to be inspired by Dark Souls, Kingdoms of Amalur and Batman: Arkham City, to have a New Game+ option, and to be due on PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in 2013.

Epic Games Announces Impossible Studios!
Epic Games announces the opening of Impossible Studios, a company comprised of highly skilled, senior-level game development talent. Based in Hunt Valley, Maryland, Impossible is the latest addition to Epic’s network, which includes corporate headquarters in Cary, North Carolina; ChAIR Entertainment in Salt Lake City, Utah; People Can Fly in Warsaw, Poland; Epic Games Korea in Seoul, Korea; and Epic Games Japan in Yokohama, Japan.
Founded in June, Impossible brings world-class game development expertise and creativity to Epic’s growing team. With heralded roots in real-time strategy and role-playing entertainment software, Impossible brings its own distinct design and technical sensibilities to Epic’s portfolio of games and game technology across major platforms.
Led by studio director Sean Dunn, Impossible’s first project is the touch-based action role-playing game “Infinity Blade: Dungeons” for iOS. “Infinity Blade: Dungeons,” which was conceived at Epic’s Cary studio, is being developed in collaboration with Epic and ChAIR under Impossible’s roof in Maryland.
Impossible consists of former employees of Big Huge Games, creators of the renowned “Rise of Nations” strategy games, “Catan” for Xbox LIVE Arcade, “Age of Empires III: The Asian Dynasties” for PC, and “Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning” for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC. Big Huge Games earned the Baltimore Business Journal’s “Best Places to Work 2011” award and was also honored as one of Game Developer magazine’s top 30 developers in the world earlier this year.
“Epic Games has truly embraced this stellar collection of developers who were displaced by the closing of Big Huge Games,” said studio director Sean Dunn. “They have looked after us with complete care, giving us all the tools and resources we need to make a lot of gamers happy.”
“We were so glad we could help keep this great team together, and we’re lucky to have them,” said Epic Games President Dr. Michael Capps. “At the time, I said that finding a full team of superstars was ‘impossible’ and apparently the name stuck! Pairing the imagination and experience of Impossible with Epic’s technology, IP and resources makes for a business greater than the sum of its parts.”
Capps will lead an “Infinity Blade: Dungeons” panel with the game’s lead designer, Ian Frazier, and author, Brandon Sanderson, at Dragon*Con in Atlanta on August 31. “Infinity Blade: Dungeons” is set for release on the App Store later this year.

The Binging of Isaac developer Edmund McMillen has confirmed that his naked dungeon crawler is heading to consoles.
McMillen made the announcement on his personal blog last night, although specific platforms were not confirmed. However, the Super Meat Boy creator did state that the console version would come bundled with the Wrath of the Lamb expansion pack.
Compulsion Games rather quietly announced Contrast back in March. At the time the platforms were announced. Recently our favorite tipper @lifelower did some digging. First he noticed a post on LinkedIn that confirmed the consoles: Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. Next he found a job listing. It stated that Contrast was set to release Q4 2012 via Xbox Live Arcade, PlayStation Network and PC. After adding the game to his database the developer confirmed that it was coming to XBLA via Twitter.
Thematically speaking Contrast looks amazing. The film noir setting combined with the play on light and shadow really gives it a lot of visual appeal. It also looks to have elements of platforming, which when done right is always a good thing.
