Kameo: Tree BattleWe gander a boss battle with new movies and creative wording.June 07, 2004 - Not coming until January 2005, Kameo: Elements of Power is not a high-profile Rare title like Conker or Perfect Dark Zero, but it is the little platformer that could. A blend of action and puzzles, Kameo is looking like a solid title nowadays as compared to E3 2003 when it looked like, well, not so grand.
One signature of platformers are boss battles. Each stage is defined by some titanic tussle with a bizarre and, hopefully, memorable boss. Kameo is, in essence, a traditional platflormer (a rarity these day) and as such, young Kameo will have altercations with a number of bosses. While we haven't seen every boss the game has to offer, not by a long shot, we have spied a couple of nifty encounters. Over the next few weeks, we'll take a look at a few different boss battles, explain what's going on, and let you see the battle for yourself.
Today, we're gonna check out the favorite of the battles we've got on tape. This battle takes place with a fellah we like to call Treebeard, for obvious reasons. Now, that's not to say that's his actual name in the game, but Treebeard will do for now. This is a giant tree Kameo has to defeat using her wits and powers from the different creatures she transforms into.
The tree is a menace on its own, first chucking giant acorns at Kameo and then later shaking some orcs out of its thick head of leafy hair. What's a girl with the Elements of Power to do? The smartest move is turning into Kameo's least impressive looking form -- a small, rock dude on wheels. This tyke can chuck rocks, which seems a bit silly in some ways, but the key is getting one in Treebeard's mouth. Chuck a rock down the creatures throat and it will be stunned, opening itself up to further attacks. Everybody knows trees hate swallowing rocks!
If the description of the battle sounds a bit vague, it's because we don't have too many details on the different forms Kameo assumes and since it's still a good eight months away, we won't actually have this game in our hands to play on a regular basis for a good long while.
