Y actualización del proceso por parte de Ayn:
Week 4 Update
Happy Saturday. Here is the update for week 4.
Odin Lite & Super Dock
After evaluating our options from last week's update, we decided to make a minor modification to the dock that should improve the experience for Lite users and add a double redundancy for Base and Pro models. We have added an HDMI port to the top of the dock that connects internally to an HDMI output port on the side. Additionally, we will make a small HDMI adapter to go with the dock that should be a better alternative to our old plan. We should finalize this new design sometime next week so the Super Dock can start the molding phase.
As for the Odin Lite itself, the PCB manufacturing will start on or around September 30th.
Odin Base / Pro
Molding for the Base and Pro models continues. Since our last update, we have been working with our molding factory to review our model to check for potential errors. These factories provide suggestions if they see something that might cause an issue in the molding process. This verification process is complete, and we now move on to the production of the injection mold.
Software & Media Units
We recently made a change to the brightness values on Odin to provide a lower minimum brightness threshold. We also adjusted the brightness slider to provide linear brightness adjustments. While doing this, we also added a UI notification on the brightness slider to notify the user of added power consumption and heat.
Earlier this month, we modified the system gestures in Android 10 to remove potential conflicts with our in-game mapping menu. We also want to improve the responsiveness of the side-out menu to bring it in line with industry standards. Our new design responds much better to touch, and it should provide our users with a more enjoyable experience.
We have been overhauling our controller input software to improve system performance for the last two months. This issue ties into two other points that I want to discuss. First, we finished making the media units over two weeks ago, and they have been waiting in our office since then. The first concern we had with these units was that we wanted to have a completely working OTA system in place so that reviewers could easily update their devices if major modifications took place during the shipping window. We also wanted to shift our OTA strategy from full system partition downloads to incremental patches to lower the future demands on our cloud servers. After some work over the last two weeks, we have completed this process.
The second issue is on the overhaul. We were primarily holding off on sending out the media units waiting for good news from the new input architecture. While the overhaul has improved some aspects of system performance over our old design, it introduced a host of bugs that we now need to kill. Even though the gap between their showcase and our ultimate shipping window is comparatively large, with more than enough time to make the device much better than it is today, we want the software that reviewers use to be the best that it can be. We are working hard to address these issues to get units out the door.
Have a nice weekend!
