Estaba instalando gentoo y creo que esta bien, pero me da un Kernel Panic.
Me pone:
Kernel Panic: VFS: Unable to mount partitions o algo asi, no me lo se to de memoria, en los foros de Gentoo decian que se solucionaba con las vanilla-sources, pero que va no me ha tirado, puede ser porque tenga mal editado el fstab?.

Puede ser porque no tengas bien el fstab, porque hayas compilado mal el kernel (apuesto por esta) o por una corrupción del sistema de ficheros (no creo), entre otras.

Lo más probable es que hayas compilado el kernel sin soporte para tu sistema de archivos (por ejemplo para reiserfs). Arranca con el LiveCD, haz un chroot y revisa la configuración del kernel.

He puesto soporte para todos los tipos en el kernel, pero no toy seguro del mio, juraria que puse reiserfs, en el fstab, tambien tengo que poner la particion de Win?.

Fijate en eso y con el soporte en el kernel para los tipos de sistemas de ficheros que sean criticos en el arranque. Solo puede ser eso

En castellano Driebes, mi lengua natal es el valenciano y es la que uso para comentar mis archivos (que este no es el caso, pero algunos se me olvida que es cada cosa)

Par saber que tipo de particion has creado... puff ni idea

Jejeje, yo tampoco me habia fijado.

Por cierto para saber el tipo de particion que usas puedes poner 'mount' a secas, pero claro si no puedes arrancar el sistema.... bueno si, con el knoppix, o cualquier LiveCD. [Ooooo]

A traves del Knoppix puedo hacer Chroot.
Bueno, como a lo mejor tengo solucinao este problema pa esta noche, me podeis decir como hago pa instalar unas X, por ejemplo, el Gnome.

Con que hagas "emerge gnome" ya te instala el gnome y las X si no las tienes.

Pega aqui tu .config del kernel y tu fstab a ver si damos con el problema, no pueden ser muchas cosas

El .config es el archivo donde se guarda la configuracion del kernel que haces graficamente con el menuconfig. Esta en /usr/src/linux/, peganos la parte de filesystems a ver si vemos algo raro.

solo a la particion boot en el caso de que hayas usado reiserfs en ella. O sea q en tu caso no. Aun asi, no tengo mucha idea de lo que hace, creo que tiene que ver con el tratamiento del arbol de ficheros que usa reiser

^^' joer masho que amnesia la tuya. Las particiones reiser cuando se montan si que dicen algo. Segun tu fstab, es una ext2, pero vamos. De todas formas, la boot no se monta en el arranque, no es critica ya que el lilo solo necesita saber la direccion en el hd donde se encuentra el kernel y punto. Si necesitas recompilar el kernel si que tendras que montarla.
Prueba:
#mount /boot/
si se te monta es que lo tienes bien definido en el fstab
si no, para montarla manualmente, tendras que hacer

#mount /dev/hdxy /boot/
aunque no se te montara si no tienes soporte en el kernel

ve probando con todos los sistemas de ficheros que crees que puedes haber creado la boot. ext2, ext3, reiserfs, xfs, jfs, etc

Ahora tengo un problema, hago emerge gnome me empieza a descargar el primer pakete de 123!!!!! es freetype no se que, se lo termina de descargar y me dice que esta corrupto que lo borre y vuelva a reiniciar la descarga.
Como es el comando pa borrar un archivo (no me pegeis), y se pueden añadir otros mirrors?.

El numero de paquetes que se tiene que bajar es normal. Ten en cuenta que estan ahi gtodas las Xfree y todo Gnome. Yo lo que hacia era emerger las X, el fluxbox (1 minuto de reloj

) meterle el phoenix en binario y emerger gnome.

Bueno, ya tengo el X.Free 4.3 y el Fluxbox, tengo que configurar el archivo y dejo esta noche el Gnome poniendose, pero no he encontrado en el portage el Phoenix, solo el mozilla.

No consigo configurarlo bien, como puedo hacer pa configurarlo pa un monitor a 1024x800 a 60 Hz con GeForce 2¿, sin que me tenga que bajar nada mas.
Es pa dejar esta noche el Pc, puesto.

Venga tios, haber si me podeis ayudar, he probado con el xf86config y despues de hacerlo todo, al poner startx da un error con el Vga o algo asi.

Ya he conseguido configurar la GeForce2, pero no se si algo ta mal o que, porque arranca el logo y to, pero no se mueve el raton y el teclado no responde, es quizas porque los tengo mal configurados?.
Es un raton USB y el teclado ta conectado a su puerto normal, como coño los configuro?

Has compilado adecuadamente todo lo necesario para el mouse usb? lo del teclado es mas raro, porque no suele hacer falta nada especial. Mira si tienes bien el /etc/rc.conf

Para el usb, mirate este howto:

y si tienes un error en el xfree peganos el log (/var/log/XFree86.0.log), que asi dan mas ganas de ayudar

Si me arrancan las X, pero es que se me queda blokeao el Pc.

Se te cuelgan las X?, y que le has puesto en el xf86config?

. Nuse, has instalado los drivers de nvidia con emerge? Hay un comando para auto actualizar las configuraciones despues de instalaciones de paquetes (etc-update) a ver si con eso lo apaña. Peganos el log de las X a ver que vemos por ahi
Rebootar las X: Ctrl+Alt+Supr
Modo Texto: Ctrl+Alt+F1 a F6
Volver a las X: Ctrl+Alt+F7

Pos na, cuando arranco las X, me sale el logo de nVidia luego unas ventanas a la derecha y arriba un reloj y ya ta, se queda parao, no funciona el raton, ni el teclado y esa combinaciones de teclas tampoco hacen nada.

aaaaaaaamos a ver. Tu problema es con las X si no me equivoco. Supongo tambien que no tendras un arranque automatico de las X (gdm y similares). Asi pues copia el log en un ficherito y lo pasas a un disquet (o en una particion fat). Despues entras en ventanucos y lo pegas en el foro
