Another E3 has came to pass with absolutely no info on the Shenmue series and Digitalrex was nowhere present. However, Taka-san a PR person in Digitalrex had this message from the Sega express weekly mail magazine:
"Finally, E3 has arrived. Personally, I'm looking forward to the various announcements. As for the announcement from digitalrex, please keep waiting for a little more!"
Ya sobre el tema de las marcas registradas:
please read, it seems huge, but its just facts--a fast read
I take another look at the Shenmue trademarks in the Unite States trademark site and youll find something odd. You'll find 2 trademarks filed if you search for Shenmue, one from 1999 and the latest registered just last year. Everything looked normal as before, but when you check on the "status details" with last years trademark, this showed up.
Serial Number: 76539781

Mark (words only): SHENMUE
Standard Character claim: No
Current Status: A non-final action has been mailed. This is a letter from the examining attorney requesting additional information and/or making an initial refusal. However, no final determination as to the registrability of the mark has been made.
Date of Status: 2004-03-18
Filing Date: 2003-08-25
Transformed into a National Application: No
Registration Date: (DATE NOT AVAILABLE)

Law Office Assigned: LAW OFFICE 103

HAMILTON MICHAEL Employee Location

Yeah well, then if you compared it to the status details of the older trademark you get this. The recent trademark that I posted above looks "incomplete" to this one....
Serial Number: 75643558 Assignment Information
Registration Number: 2559333 Assignment Information
Mark (words only): SHENMUE
Standard Character claim: No
Current Status: Registered.
Date of Status: 2002-04-09
Filing Date: 1999-02-18
Transformed into a National Application: No
Registration Date: 2002-04-09
Register: Principal
Law Office Assigned: LAW OFFICE 103
Ok if you do some research you find out why the newer trademark looks incomplete. You see the trademark was just recently filed in Aug of last year and from what you can read its a long process until its actually registered.

The Trademark Registration Process: a VERY Brief Overview.
-Trademark Applicant (you) prepares and submits the application to the USPTO (United States Patent & Trademark Office).
-An "Examining Attorney" is assigned to your file.
-Examining Attorney reviews your application for deficiencies.
-Examining Attorney searches Federal Registered and Pending Trademark databases for similar or conflicting trademarks.
-Examining Attorney issues a Letter or "Action."
-Applicant is notified via U.S. Mail of remaining steps or the application is rejected.
-Applicant conducts an Interview with Examining Attorney to discuss the Examining Attorney's decision or "Action."
-Applicant Amends the application or abandons the trademark.
-Examining Attorney issues a "Final Action" ...hopefully, this "Final Action" is a "REGISTERED" status.

http://www.day-day.com/Brochure%20Reg%20Process.htm
"The trademark registration process has many steps and typically requires a minimum of ten to twelve months (or more) to complete."
Also "Digitalrex" is also a trademark that was file around the same time, its still going through the legal process of being registered.

so not only was Shenmue not shown because of trademark restrictions, im betting Yu himself wanted to go, but couldnt because of Digital rex's own trademark restrictions! im betting on TGS because thats when DR and S3 restrictions are over (12-13 month wait of the trademark process is that restriction i'm stating above)
