I belive that your chip have not good installer. If you play a backup the NME actived automatic. You must´n have any problem when play a disc copy. Maybe you burn your backup bad. Try burn other game and try other game.

You will only have isues if the power turns off while you are changing the firmware, if you are playing normally there won't be any problem, or almost it won't be normal.
