American publishing mammoth Electronic Arts revealed its 2003 software sales projections on Wednesday, and the end results could translate to trouble for GameCube fans.
The company previously expected a sales growth of 20-25% for its 2003 GameCube line-up of software titles, but on Wednesday dropped this figure to only 15-20% growth. Meanwhile, both Sony and Microsoft's consoles remained at their original forecasts of 25-30% and 20-25% respectively.
The news caused Nintendo's stock to hit a four-year low yesterday in Japan, closing at 9,480 yen (down 6.14%).
Perhaps the worst part of the news for GameCube fans is the reality that EA is now reconsidering its upcoming software plans and could possibly ship fewer sports titles for the system in 2003. This news comes after the similarly discouraging move by competitor Sega and Visual Concepts, who recently announced similar plans to release fewer sports titles on the Nintendo home console this year.
Stay tuned to IGNcube as we bring you concrete details from EA regarding this unfortunate possibility in the very near future.
Uh uh uh.... sin Sega ni EA sería un problema.... veremos como termina.
