Magazine // Famitsu VIP Interviews: 2004 plans & expectations 17:06
SCE (Saeki)
- Looking forward to Katamari Damashii.
- Besides games, we are planning to offer an altered version of PSBB to more experienced net users.
- For the first half of 2004, we'll be targetting female users.
- We will definitely release PSP in 2004 (laughs), we'd like to release it mid-December.
- We expect to announce a number of PSP titles at E3.
- No information about PS3, although the project is proceeding at a natural pace...
Nintendo (Toyota)
- Famicom's 20th year continues until July and we are still planning several projects.
- 2003's big hit was Made in Wario.
- (about collaborations with third parties in 2004) Simply, I cannot comment.
- At the moment Miyamoto is hard at work on Zelda 4 Swords and Pikmin 2.
- We plan to show the new game machine at E3. We're thinking about how our existing titles can be used with the new product.
Microsoft (Maruyama)
- I think a lot of people bought Tobal No.1 based on their enjoyment of FF7.
- It is difficult to get a Japanese third party to make a new RPG for us in the current situation.
- After June this year, I think we'll be releasing a constant 8 games per month.
- With the next console, we would really like to make a small version of the Xbox.
Square-Enix (Wada)
- We are currently considering whether to release any PSP games.
- If we do decide to release anything, we don't have immediate plans to release ports of existing games.
Konami (Kitakami)
- Karaoke Revolution doesn't seem to be catching on (laughs).
- We'd like to release something for PSP at launch.
- This year is the year of Metal Gear Solid.
- It's also going to be a year for improving sports games and online games.
Bandai (Ue)
- We'd like to put some effort into collaborations with other companies this year.
- For now we are collaborating with SCE on the new Ghost in the Shell game.
- We believe we could end up releasing Anime DVDs bundled with games, or hybrid products.
Capcom (Tsujimoto)
- We're talking to other companies about collaborating on a number of titles.
- The PSP has potential. We're putting a lot of effort into it releasing something at launch - it's exhausting us.
- We're going to continue making Rockman games. Also Biohazard 4 information will come soon.
- We've also got a few surprising titles in the works that will make you think, "Could they really make something like this?"
Namco (Haraguchi)
- We are looking forward to the PSP, we hope to release 2 or 3 titles at launch. It'll take a bit of time before original titles come out though.
- We have plans to expand our PC support rapidly, for online titles. We also have plans to make PSBB compatible games.
- We're pro-actively collaborating with others in 2004. We'll also continue our relationship with Nintendo this year.
Pokemon (Ishiwara)
- Fire Red and Leaf Green are coming out on 29 January.
- I think we'll be able to show the next planned Pokemon releases for GBA and GC at either Pokemon Festa or E3.
- We're currently considering something involving the wireless adaptor in the next Pokemon movie.
- We're also preparing for a surprising turn of events.
Koei (Komatsu)
- We plan to release 3 titles for the PSP launch.
- We are recruiting foreign development staff with aims of improving our foreign market penetration.
Sega (Okamura)
- We plan to release something totally new and epic at the end of the year in Japan and the West. We'll announce it soon.
- We are putting the finishing touches to a brand new RPG.
- We plan to invest in an MMORPG for East Asia.
- We'd like to announce something for PSP around the time of Tokyo Game Show this autumn.

recuerdas mal.
