Q. I get transfer errors when writing a game to the cart or a 'No adaptor found!' message.
A. This is fairly common problem, here are some solutions:
- Are you using the latest Advance Writer software? Visit the manufacturers homepage at
http://www.flash2advance.com/ for the latest version (currently v1.3).
=== i tried 1.2 , 1.3, even tried littlewriter, but still no adapter found
- Is the GBA switched on and put into multi-boot mode? Read our guide here for details.
=== yes, im holding start and select on startup so the nintendo logo disappears and only gameboy stands there
- In your PC's BIOS change your parallel port from SPP to EPP/ECP mode. Exactly how to do this varies between PC's but if you reset your PC and press the DEL or maybe ESC key you will get into the BIOS. Have a look around and you will see a Parallel Port setting, change this setting ONLY to EPP/ECP and save and exit. Your motherboard manual should explain exactly how to do this.
=== mine is on ecp/epp , i tried different versions, like epp version 1.7 and 1.9 (in the bios) but whatever i do no adapter found
- Are you sharing the parallel port with a printer or something? If so try removing the other device(s) and any memory resident programs associated with it. This solved most cases!
=== noop i dont even have a printer, nothing on there that could hinder
- Most people seem to be having problems when using Win2k/NT. If you can, try it on Win98 etc.
=== using win98se, should be ok
- Try using if possible a power adaptor, batteries do not last very long, invest some money in a GBA power adaptor.
=== using freshly charged batteries, but even if this was the problem wouldnt i atleast get some sign from the linker its alive
- Set the transfer speed on the software to speed 1 (slow) and see what happens. If it works increase the speed by one and try again until you get to the highest speed your PC supports.
=== tried multiple speeds, no changes
- Dont use compressed (.zip, .rar etc) files when transfering, Flash Advance Writer can only accept uncompressed ROMS (.gba, .bin, .agb etc)
=== im only using gba files, but hell it doesnt mater, i cant even erasheflash
