11:05pm - Can confirm that all NEO2.2 owners using an AR2 v1.7 on a PAL console can boot DVDR games with a double swap with no patches and no problems. It may work on other AR2's but we only have these in stock to test at the moment. We used a Pioneer A-03 Standard 1:1 image using Primo DVD v2.0 (No swap may not be possible using A-03 due to the fact that a DVDR(A) burn may be needed but we are testing this right now with an authoring machine and our debug PS2). The DEMO DVD used was the coverdisc from the August 2001 Issue of Playstation 2 Magazine (Lemans 24 is the featured Demo) Here's how we did it:
1) Turn on the ps2 with AR2 1.7 (holding down the ON/RESET)
2) Select Start Game (Still Holding ON/Reset)
3) Press EJECT (while still holding the ON/RESET button) and swap AR21.7 with DVD demo.
4) Press EJECT to close (Wait 10 seconds)
5) Then select WITHOUT CODES. Wait until disc stops.
6) Now let go of reset and the tray comes out, Swap DVD demo for a backup DVDR (In this case GT3 A-Spec JAP) press X just as the tray starts to go back in (IMPORTANT)
So there's a turn up for the books - all those nice images from Paradox work great on machines apart from JAP after all - nice one lads. There was absolutely no glitches or bugs in the gameplay. It's not no swap yet but at least it can be done with your current NEO 2.2 mods. Please post your results to the DVDR section on Digital Forums.
Note: The DVD Boot disc HAS to have a bigger TOC than the DVDR. For example Onimusha TOC is 3.8GB so the DVD Demo disc would not boot it, but using RAYMAN Original would as it is 4.1GB.
