***********************Question
Does the specification on page
http://www.pcvsconsole.com/features/consoles/
has something wrong?
at Floating point speed of Xbox is shown
~120.0 GFLOPS (CPU+GPU)
when I compare to the others I think it should be 12.0 GFLOPS (CPU+GPU) !!!!
because the CPU and GPU speed doesn't different that much......
*******************************Answer
That 120.0 GFLOPS rating had been estimated based on some known information.
GeForce3: 76 GFLOPS at 200MHz
xGPU: originally rated 140 GFLOPS at 300MHz
Pentium III: 2.93 GFLOPS at 733MHz
GeForce3 has 1 vertex shader, and xGPU has 2 vertex shaders. The rest of the two chips are very similar.
It's not 12.0 GFLOPS. The GPU on Xbox is much more powerful than GameCube or PS2 graphics processors.
A regular DVD is DVD-5 and stores 4.7GB. DVD-9 stores 8.54GB, using 2 layers on a single sided disc.
PlayStation 2 uses DVD-5, Xbox uses DVD-9, and GameCube uses a DVD-based 3-inch optical disc that stores 1.5GB.
A DVD-5 player cannot read DVD-9 discs. However, a multi-read DVD-9 player can read both DVD-9 and DVD-5 discs.
Here are the DVD disc formats.
DVD-5 - single sided, single layer, 4.7GB
DVD-9 - single sided, dual layer, 8.54GB
DVD-10 - double sided, single layer, 9.4GB
DVD-18 - double sided, dual layer, 17.08GB
DVD-RAM - re-writable, 4.7GB per side
DVD-R - recordable, 4.7GB per side
DVD-RW - re-writable, 4.7GB per side, more compatible with existing DVD-ROM drives than DVD-RAM
Espero que la Xbox puede leer DVD-5!!
