After all this time, you will finally be able to begin playing the Far Cry beta.
This mail summarizes all the critical information you'll need to get the beta and report the bugs. Make sure that you keep it in a safe place for future reference.
1. Reminders
=========
- You have signed an NDA before signing up for the beta. This means that all material and information that will be sent to you during the beta test period is STRICTLY confidential and shall not be transferred to anyone not part of the beta test.
- The beta version you are about to download is a "work-in-progress" version of Far Cry that only includes multiplayer gameplay and 2 maps.
- The recommended specifications for playing the game are below. If you don't have a PC that matches or is greater these specifications, it is more than likely you won't be able to play the beta. Know this before you download it.
o P4 1.7 Ghz
o 512 MB RAM
o GeForce 4 / Radeon 9x00 Pro series based cards or higher (no GeForce 4 MX support)
o 500 MB of free hard disk space
o Windows 2000/XP support only
o Driver requirements:
.DirectX 9.0b must be installed
.Nvidia based cards must have : ForceWare drivers 53.03
.ATI based cards must have: Catalyst drivers 3.9
2. Getting the beta
================
- The beta version is right now available for download on an FTP server. References are as follow:

Don't share this information with anyone
- If you have Internet Explorer 6, you can enter the FTP server address in the address bar, and get direct access to the FTP for downloading the version. If you can't access directly or experience problems, make sure that the passive FTP option is checked in the advanced tab of your internet options.
3. Installing and validating the beta
==================================
- Double-click on the self-extracting Winrar archive you downloaded and choose a destination folder. Follow onscreen instructions to complete installation.
- Start FarCry.exe by double-clicking on the corresponding icon in your installation folder.
- In the multiplayer menu, click on the "Internet" tab. You'll be prompted to enter your ubi.com username. Enter the ubi.com username you used to sign up for the beta. Other usernames won't work
- Once your username has been validated, enter the following CD-Key number (insert dashes and type in capital letters):
- This CD Key number is YOUR personal authentication number and shall not be transmitted to anyone. The use of CD Keys is monitored and any misuse of CD Key will result with the deactivation of it.
4. Playing the game
================
- In the session list, select a server and join the fun!
- If you plan to host a session, make sure that your bandwidth capacity and your PC power is adapted to the number of players you are planning to host.
- If you plan to install a dedicated server, carefully follow the instructions provided the forum.

5. Reporting bugs
==============
- When you discover a bug not in the list of known bugs available at the beta forums, connect to the following address and follow onscreen instructions to report it:

- Pressing F12 during the game creates instantly a screenshot in your installation folder.
6. Sharing information
===================
- Connect to the official beta forums for the latest information on the beta:

- Remember that it is required to submit bugs on the form above. Forums are for discussing game balance and exchanging info and tips about strategies.
