200 cm cúbicos de hype por favor...
EDIT: Entrevista a Shinji Hajimoto, de momento en inglés.
Q. Why did you decide to make this game a third-person shooter instead of a strategy RPG which is what the
Front Mission series is typically known for.
A. We collaborated with an overseas developer for this game and wanted global users to recognize and understand the genre of
Front Mission and its world. We chose the shooter genre because it fits the game in terms of controlling the wanzer and many users are already accustomed to it. Additionally, we decided on a third person shooter because it wouldn’t be fun if you couldn’t see your customized wanzer.
Q. What was the most challenging factor in changing the genre?
A. One hurdle we managed to overcome was balancing the feel of the wanzer as a heavy robot while still keeping the tempo of a shooting game. The wanzer feels heavy while walking , and moves quickly during skate mode; this adds a nice variation to action. We struggled and are still struggling with the balance in the online mode. It’s very difficult to generate an interesting balance for both solo and team play.
Q. Tell us a little about the characteristics of some of the stages in this game.
A. The game begins with a city stage, in the midst of Manhattan. Other settings include subway tunnels, jungles, snow fields and deserts, totaling ten-plus unique stages. Depending on the stage, the player will have the ability to dismount the wanzer and play as a human.
Q. The
Front Mission series is known for offering vast choices to customize your wanzers. To degree can you customize a wanzer and how many types will we see in this game?
A. As in previous titles, wanzer parts and weapons are customizable with greater flexibility given to camouflage and color schemes. We want users to create wanzers that reflect their individual style and taste. We plan to have at least ten wanzers appear in this game.
Q. What are some of the changes made to the wanzers in this game, if any? Are there any new features?
A. The main feature is the E.D.G.E. system, which can be equipped to wanzers. In past games, systems crucial to the story emerged, such as the bioneural device and fenrir , but players were either unable to use them or special features were unnoticed. The current E.D.G.E. system plays a large part in the story and can be directly utilized by players.
Major improvements were made to the agility backpack, increasing the mobility of the wanzer. Originally, the agility backpack served to boost wanzers to higher altitudes, but with FME, it improves the skate mode and can be used to glide over terrain.
User’s will also come across some new unique wanzer designs reflecting the great results from our collaboration with an overseas firm.
Q. What is the E.D.G.E system?
A. The system is deeply involved in the single campaign story. During game play, surrounding movements will slow down like in bullet time. Since your offensive power will increase at this time, I think if you’ll be able to move forward in the game while using this system effectively.
Q. Tell us about the depth of the multiplayer mode. How many maps are there in the multiplayer?
A. The game provides several types of maps, including cities and natural settings. Rules include death match, team death match and domination. The real thrill of FME comes from the ability to change individual battle styles and positions in team matches by customizing weapons and backpacks (parts that can add special abilities).
Q. Can you describe the Battle Skills and how they work in
FRONT MISSION EVOLVED?
A. When added to weapons under certain conditions, battle skills will engage at a constant rate.
Q. What would you like to say to the die-hard
Front Mission fans and to those who are new to the series?
A. This game is part of the
Front Mission series, but can also be enjoyed as an entirely new action game. For those familiar with the series, you can enjoy the game as a pilot, encounter familiar wanzers and get a clearer vision of the future of the
Front Mission universe that was portrayed in FM3.
For those new to the game, it can be enjoyed as a single action-shooter. I’ll be happy if this title will familiarize you with
Front Mission and its universe.
