Polish developer City Interactive formally announced Sniper: Ghost Warrior 2 for the Xbox 360, PS3 and PC today. City Interactive had previously announced an unspecified followup to last year's Sniper: Ghost Warrior using Crysis 2 developer Crytek's CryENGINE 3 middleware. Players can once again expect to don a virtual ghillie suit and belly-crawl their way through even more lush jungle vegetation some time in 2012.
Warner Bros. has officially announced the Mortal Kombat Arcade Kollection for PC, PSN, and Xbox Live after being rumored for what seems like ages.
The collection will include the arcade trilogy Mortal Kombat, Mortal Kombat 2 and Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3, and will be available digitally on the aforementioned formats.
“We are very excited to finally have the first three Mortal Kombat games available in one download package for long-time and new fans to play,” said series creator Ed Boon in the press release.
“With the release of our 2011 Mortal Kombat, and its return to 2D game play, players have been asking for these classic titles and we are happy to deliver them.”
The collection was developed by Other Ocean in conjunction with NetherRealm studios, and will allow players to experience the game in the “original arcade state,” and will feature online play, leaderboards, Achievements and Trophies.
To be released this summer, the collection will run you $9.99/800 MSP.
Just announced at this morning's Warner Bros. Interactive pre-E3 event, the long-rumored Gotham City Imposters is a new shooter from F.E.A.R. dev Monolith Productions. It's a multiplayer shooter set in the Batman universe. If that sounds weird ("But Batman doesn't use guns!"), then you're a set ahead of the curve.
The crux of Imposters is simple: You don't play as Batman or Joker. Instead you play as a highly customizable "imposter" on Team Bats or Team Jokers. "Posing as amateur vigilantes or villains," explains the press release, "gamers will create their very own Bats and Jokerz characters using unprecedented customization options including insane costumes, homebrewed gadgets and a wide range of traditional and imagined weapons." From there, you'll take your character into a series of gametypes and maps, which are "inspired by DC Comics' Batman license."
Imposters is being shown running 4v4 multiplayer at today's preview event, but WBIE tells us that the maximum number of players isn't yet set in stone.
Update: Clarified details based on press release. Additionally, GothamCityImpostors.com is now live

You also manage the psychological aspects of each individual footballer nurturing a more realistic relationship that comes with being a professional football manager. Ronimo Games, the developers behind the PlayStation Network and WiiWare real-time strategy game Swords & Soldiers, has announced their next downloadable for PlayStation Network and Xbox LIVE Arcade. Awesomenauts, as it’s titled, is a new “Multiplayer Online Battle Arena (MOBA)” game inspired by 1980s animation.
The game pits a group of mercenaries against invading forces in a fight for “territorial supremacy.” It’ll feature “Russian monkeys with jetpacks, giant robots,” and other alien creatures on a 2D battlefield. It combines classic platforming-action with modern online multiplayer — a welcome mix for fans of both the old and new gaming generation.
“We are thrilled to surprise the world with Awesomenauts at E3, and look forward to announcing further details then. If MOBA games and classic animated series were to have a baby, this would be it!”, said Ronimo Games co-founder Jasper Koning. “They don’t make ‘em like this anymore!”

Hothead games has announced a new DeathSpank adventure which tasks our hero with finding the Fires of Bacon and destroying the evil power of the thongs.
In “The Baconing”, DeathSpank goes up against Anti-Spank and meets up with new acquaintances and old friends along the way.
The new adventure includes four new bosses like the Minorque, a new insane difficulty level, and new locations like The Forbidden Zone, The Forest of Tomorrow, Barnacle Lake and others.
A new sidekick named Bob From Marketing seems volatile, as he can shoot “laser eye beams; eat dead bodies to restore health; and eat live bodies as an additional attack option.”
Improvements have been made to the combat system, and players can use shield bash, deflect ranged weapons back at enemies, and perform charged attacks at enemies. Players will also be able to use both choice and opportunity when attacking enemies this time around.
Hothead told Kotaku that this new adventure includes 100 new quests, a new storyline, over70 characters, 80 new weapons, new areas and the aforementioned new difficulty level.
DeathSpank: The Baconing is slated for a summer release on PC, Mac, PSN and XBL.

Certain Affinity has announced that Crimson Alliance is in development and will be getting an official reveal later today over at the Rooster Teeth Fan Event!
The game will also be present at E3, where gamers can try a playable demo of the title.
The game’s official facebook page reveals that it is an Action-RPG title.
Crimson Alliance is the new action RPG from Certain Affinity! It takes everything we’ve learned about high action from working on shooters like Halo and Call of Duty, and everything we love about the fantasy genre, but gets rid of all that tedious backpack rummaging, and boring dialog!
They’ve also launched a teaser website for the game to mark the announcement.
It’s now official that Stainless has “reacquired” the Carmageddon brand from Square Enix, following previous rumours. Stainless is the team that developed the original PC titles Carmageddon and Carmageddon 2: Carpocalypse Now.
The new game is described as being in “early development” and will release as a download. No platforms have been confirmed.
Stainless is “actively seeking a partner with whom to move the project on to full production.”
“Carmageddon has returned to its Indie developer roots, and the time is right to bring the game to a new audience,” said Patrick Buckland, Stainless co-founder and CEO.
“Originally an ambitious title that tested the hardware limits of its day, we’re excited that the game will finally get the showcase it deserves on today’s platforms.”
Fellow studio co-founder Neil Barnden added: “Carmageddon: Reincarnation will feature the same black humour and comic violence that made the original game such a success.
“All the laughs, the crazy power-ups, and extreme destruction will return. We will make sure the existing fans get what they want and expect from a Carmageddon game, and a new generation discovers the delights of sliding into a Cunning Stunt.”
Check out the game’s site and Twitter feed for further updates.
THQ’s made official UFC Undisputed 3, confirming the new iteration of the fighting series for an early 2012 launch.
The game, which will be on show at E3 next week, will feature Pride matches that are based on the now-defunct Pride Fighting Championship, according to GameSpot.
There are also changes to the striking and grappling gameplay systems, as well as trying to make the experience more friendly to experienced and new players of the series.
There’s a preview of it and interview with the game’s dev team at GameSpot.
It’s the first proper UFC title, not including Fitness Trainer, since UFC Undisputed 2010, which performed sluggishly in sales. It’ll launch on 360 and PS3.
A smaller, cuter Warhammer 40,000 will precede the launch of the next retail entry in the series. THQ has announced Warhammer 40,000: Kill Team today, an upcoming PlayStation Network and Xbox LIVE Arcade arcade shooter.
Kill Team has players in the role of an elite Space Marine team sent to take out a giant Ork Kroozer en-route to an Imperial Forge World. It offers a range of classes, including the ranged specialists Strenguard Veteran and Techmarine, and the melee focused Vanguard Veteran and Librarian. It also highlights two-player local co-op, weapon upgrades, and six chapters of story.
Completing the first mission in Kill Team unlocks the Power Sword weapon for use in multiplayer for the upcoming retail release, Warhammer 40,000: Space marine. It “cuts through armor and flesh alike.”
Warhammer 40,000: Kill Team will launch on PlayStation Network and Xbox LIVE Arcade in July for $9.99 / 800 Microsoft Points.
During last week’s E3 2011 Game Rant was treated to a behind closed doors preview of two of Paramount Digital Entertainment’s upcoming titles: Stark Trek and The War of the Worlds. While we have already detailed Stark Trek, and its intriguing co-op innovations, it was now time to share what The War of the Worlds is all about.
Paying homage to retro titles like Prince of Persia and Out of this World, The War of the Worlds features 2D side scrolling that isn’t focused on flashy combat or fast-paced action set pieces.

Playing out in subtler evasion-based gameplay, The War of the Worlds puts players in control of a London born everyman whose main goal is to reunite his family. Following along with Patrick Stewart’s stunning narration, The War of the Worlds drops players right into the center of the alien invasion made famous by the 1953 sci-fi film, and asks them simply to survive.
As was said before, the gameplay of The War of the Worlds is kept fairly simple, at least as far as the two levels demoed are concerned, with the player advancing forward only when it is safe to avoid strategically placed obstacles or enemies. Touted as a platformer, The War of the Worlds feels more like a small section of a larger platformer – where the player must avoid an enemy that is patrolling back and forth – only blown up to try to create a complete experience.
It is in that expansion of a fairly rudimentary gameplay mechanic that The War of the Worlds reveals its biggest flaw: simplicity. Not only does the gameplay feel overly simplified, but the level designs repeat themselves over and over again.
As the character attempted to advance forward players had to dodge the same enemy by hiding under the same overturned tank for a level that lasted somewhere in the vicinity of five minutes. Not to say that the game’s aesthetic lacks effort, it’s just in service to a somewhat empty (or at the very least, limited) experience.
Background animations, and the game’s use of rotoscoping to give a very old school feel look nice, but they sometimes distract from a game that should be quick and easy otherwise. There were a couple moments where just seeing your character was difficult – with particle effects and foreground elements crowding the screen.
There was a really intriguing concept to be had with this War of the Worlds game, especially with high-class talent like Patrick Stewart of X-Men fame on board, but from the looks of the demo, this is going to be a downloadable title that isn’t worth the price tag. Fans of the property might enjoy the title on name alone, but gamers who hold downloadable titles to a higher standard are going to be left feeling empty.
Still, we only saw two levels (of the eleven planned) from the game, which does leave some potential for The War of the Worlds to come out with some truly impressive concepts. It’s just that, as this point in the cycle, there doesn’t seem to be much offered.
What do you think of The War of the Worlds? Do you think the property holds any appeal for gamers after several film adaptations?
Ex- I am Alive developer Darkworks has announced a new survival horror shooter, Black Death, which sees players struggle against on onslaught of mutants under the shadow of a mysterious dark cloud.
The game’s official website teases gameplay mechanics using the cloud of smoke responsible for the infections – “the fog plays with you, play with the fog”.
Players will have access to chemical weapons as well as firearms, and will be able to choose between killing and curing mutants.
“Black Death is the personification of the fear generated by the recent pandemics and the mistrust which has been associated to their supposed origins (natural apocalypse, scientific, industrial, or military ones… or else… )” the site teases, forebodingly.
Darkworks has posted a teaser video and image as well as two pieces of concept art, all of which you can see below. Most intriguingly, it’s also released three images showing off the “bio-hacking survival procedure”, which looks like a clever safety-message in-game tutorial. If you look carefully on the right of the second of the three, you can see what seems to be some in-game dialogue. Another three screens are down there, too.
Darkworks has some strong horror credits, including Alone in the Dark: New Nightmare and Cold Fear. Perhaps most interestingly, it was the original developer of the slightly vapourous I Am Alive, now in production at Ubisoft Shanghai (maybe).
Black Death is expected on PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, with no release day set.

Along with a trailer and three fresh screenshots, Activision announced today that Cabela's Big Game Hunter 2012 will be released on September 27th, 2011 for PS3, Wii and Xbox 360. In this game, players can climb an area to get a better angle for the shot but risk being spotted, or they can take a low elevation route with poor visibility but plenty of concealment. In order to bag the trophies, players will have to avoid detection through cunning, skill, and deception. Nature doesn't always wait for you to make the first move as the dynamic weather and natural hazards make the hunt even more challenging.
Russian developer, Biart Studio has announced that its free-to-play third-person shooter MMO, Deep Black Online will be heading to Xbox Live, PC, and the PlayStation Network this Summer.
According to the website, Deep Black Online, takes place in a futuristic science fiction world where terrorism is rampant and governments fight over control of sophistocated biological weapons.
The game will release with three separate game modes, but the specific modes have not been detailed. Multiplayer matches will hold between 8 and 24 players.
“We are using our own multiplatform technology biEngine while developing the Deep Black Online title. A player will have the same graphics quality as in the upcoming single-player game Deep Black.” said Konstantin Popov, Biart Studio´s CEO. “Our company focuses on underwater themes in games and we are planning to demonstrate the full potential of Deep Black franchise in our MMOTPS project.”
Does this look familiar? Aside from the wooden animations, of course. This is Unearthed: The Trail of Ibn Battuta by Saudi Arabia-based Semaphore, and even this Uncharted copy won't be playable on the Xbox 360.
Unearthed has versions on everything else it seems: PC/Mac, iPhone/iPad and Android, and PlayStation 3. The game follows fortune hunter Faris Jawad from Morocco to Damascus, Alexandria and Dubai, searching for the treasure of the famed Muslim explorer Ibn Battuta. Evil treasure hunters stand in Faris' way.
Yes, it's easy to bag on this. It may not be what folks in the west would buy (or what Saudi gamers themselves would choose to import), but the country is new to games development, and they've got to start somewhere.
Still, if it's going to be so ... inspired by Uncharted, couldn't it have picked a word with a different prefix for its title?
More screens at the jump; they look better than the video.
Shack reports Ubisoft slipped the announcement out quietly over the weekend, possibly out of shame.
Following on from the success of The Michael Jackson Experience, it’s another Just Dance-like rhythm action game, and will release for Kinect and Wii.
There’s a trailer below showing off the game’s improvements over the last Experience we had, although disappointingly there still seems to be no opportunity to sit back stage complaining about the catering.
Are we going to see a whole series of these experiences? Go go Lady Gaga Experience. Meat dress forever.
A high-definition upgrade of 2010′s Wii GoldenEye 007 remake is coming to PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 this year. Initially leaked by Amazon France, GoldenEye 007: Reloaded is scheduled for a full reveal at this week’s San Diego Comic-Con.
The game will appear on PS3 and Xbox 360, with the former getting PlayStation Move support. Unlike last time, however, there will be no Wii version.
A HD version of the first game was previously confirmed for PS3 and 360, but only when motion controllers for both had launched, EA COO Peter Moore told VG247 at gamescom two years ago. Since then, it had disappeared off the radar. This probably makes up for it.
GST2 will have all four grand slam championships – Australian, French and US Opens, as well as being the only tennis game to have Wimbledon – an innovative control system, a new AI system it’s calling “Professional, Realistic, Organic” (P.R.O) and a ten-year career mode.
It’ll also feature an ESPN Grand Slam Tournament classics, where you can relive matches between Borg and McEnroe, or Federer versus Nadal.
You’ll also be able to play up against a mixture of current and legendary players, including Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic, Bjorn Borg, Maria Sharapova, Serena and Venus Williams and John McEnroe.
“We are very excited to bring the EA Sports Grand Slam Tennis franchise to the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 platforms and leverage the graphical power of these high definition consoles,’ said line producer, Thomas Singleton.
“Players will now get to experience the excitement and drama of serving it up on prestigious tennis venues such as Wimbledon’s famed Centre Court.”
Activision has today announced its plans to release NASCAR Unleashed for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Wii and Nintendo 3DS.
NASCAR Unleashed will allow players to take their racer “to the streets” by driving on AND off some of NASCAR’s most famous tracks .
In the game players can break free from the oval and explode onto the pavements, beaches and off-roads of the surrounding cities or if they wish they can just stick to the licensed tracks which include Daytona International Speedway, Chicagoland Speedway, Homestead-Miami Speedway, Martinsville Speedway and Talladega Superspeedway.
“NASCAR has been tremendous in that they’ve given us the flexibility to design different kinds of racing games for their vast audience,” said David Oxford, Executive Vice President of Activision Publishing. “We really wanted to make something electrifying for all NASCAR fans, not just the hardcore. NASCAR Unleashed gives players a new style of speed and excitement, without sacrificing accessibility.”
“NASCAR Unleashed is a wild and imaginative experience with few real world boundaries,” said Blake Davidson, vice president of licensing & consumer products at NASCAR and board member of NASCAR Team Properties. “By integrating NASCAR into a high octane, blindingly fast, home racing experience, we can deliver an entirely unique style of racing that will captivate players and help introduce our sport to new fans.”
The game will include a easy to read Heads-Up-Display that will inform racers of their race position, current speed, achievements and unlocks.

Emily reported it last week as a rumor and today we can confirm it: Epic Mickey 2 is a real thing. The official Disney newsletter went out today, citing a release on the Wii, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. And it’s scheduled for a Christmas 2012 release.
As we told you before, the game will feature two-player co-op with one player controlling Mickey and the other behind Oswald the Lucky Rabbit as they venture through lands filled with forgotten Disney characters once again. Also, as Emily reported, the game will feature different endings based on the actions you take while you play.
One interesting note is that the Disney newsletter doesn’t mention a Wii U release for Epic Mickey 2. Maybe the announcement will come when Nintendo “re-announces” the system at E3 this year.
