"Andrew Weber:
Wow. Impressive. I found what happened, and that it was so "felt" says a lot. Mostly good. Both wrt testers and wrt setup sensitivity of the sim.
Basically, we just had an accidental A/B test on contact patch pressure distribution.
The problem is actually with the last handful of builds, introduced when the ANTS got fix. As part of debugging for ANTS, the pressure distribution due to camber and inflation was temporarily forced flat. That debugging flag was inadvertently left on. In the most recent build, that flag was put back where it was supposed to be.
So any setup with nice resultant distribution (realistically good pressure and camber) would have noticed less difference. More extreme setups exercising pressure and/or camber limits will have gone from ill before ANTS, to "too good" after the ANTS fix, back to ill now. For example, with the default setup on the FB, which is not an extreme setup, feels very similar in the last two builds, but is a touch slower now (about 4 tenths at Florence Short for me). It also feels more 'right' to be now, especially getting on power. It seems smoother and more natural now.
edit: to be clear, the current build is actually the "correct" behavior, although we do already have parameters to dial back towards previous build (between ANTS and now) behavior if we want to.
edit edit: also to be clear, 'realistic' setups should demonstrate the least difference between previous builds and the current build. The most exaggerated effect will be amongst extreme setups. But we SHOULD be testing extreme setups, exactly for this sort of reason."
