"June 03, 2003 - As the August 6 release date of Winning Eleven 7 closes in, the game's online aspects have been the main talking point on the Web. IGN can confirm that WE7 will sadly not have online play. There is extended support for roster updates, player stats and graphic updates that can be downloaded from the net via the Japanese BB Unit/HD combo. However, playing actual games online with others will not be offered.
The same is true for Pro Evolution Soccer 3, which will be a conversion of Winning Eleven 7. Online features will be limited to the same roster and player statistics downloads. This is still an excellent feature, which will help to keep the game as up to date as possible. The current version of Winning Eleven 6 Final Evolution was the first game in the series to offer online functionality. Since the December release of the game, several updates have been made. These have changed player attributes and also updated each team to feature correct rosters.
Winning Eleven 7 will feature 64 club teams, 20 stadiums, much improved animation and facial details. Also, the Master League has been completely revamped. The ML is now split into four divisions. There is also a WEFA Cup, which is basically the Champions League in disguise."
