Mageia finally has a logo, designed and proposed by Olivier Faurax. Congratulations Olivier!
So the steps in the coming weeks will be to refine this logo a bit, publish it along usage guidelines, update our website and set it ready for the next ISO alpha release!
A quick word on the process to get here:
We started with a lot of spontaneous proposals, starting past September; so we set guidelines to help clarify what we wanted and what we didn’t want. With the beginning of November, we froze the list with 430 proposals, by about 113 artists. That’s a lot!
We then made two subsequent short-lists and propose them for discussion to the Mageia community through the mageia-discuss mailing-list.
And this week, after having followed/read/discussed all these discussions, the Mageia founding members voted on the orange shortlist items (see the ballot result; yes, there is a lowercase bug on the published URLs in the results list, so it may not match the intended Flickr page – epoll developers are working on that).
We certainly can improve on this process for next time, so we will hold a postmortem thread on the mageia-discuss list as well in the coming hours.
A last word to all of you 113 that posted a proposal to this: congratulations for your work as well and thank you a lot! We hope to see you hang around, there will be a lot to suggest and to do for the project: application icons, wallpapers, themes, web site artworks and who knows?
