WHY DOES THIS EXIST?

The PSP can be a bit pokey when viewing extremely large JPEG files. This allows you to shrink large files down to a PSP-friendly size that allows fast decompression -- great for converting large photo albums to show friends on the go. Got a collection of huge, multi-megabyte images taken with a 4-megapixel camera? PSPhoto lets you cut those down to size for easy browsing and viewing on your favorite portable powerhouse.
QUICK START
Plugin your PSP or use a memory stick reader and plug in your memory stick.
Set the destination folder to X:\PSP\PHOTO where X is the drive letter for your PSP or your memory stick
Drag folders of images or ZIP, RAR, files to PSPhoto. It will do the "right" thing.
HOW TO USE IT
Select an destination folder for the resulting JPEG files. This can be the PSP itself if you've mounted it in USB mode (attach a USB 2.0 cable to to the top of the unit, then select "USB Connection" from the Settings menu). This destination could also be your Memory Stick Duo, if you have a Memory Stick reader.
Select your JPEG quality. A setting of 80 yields relatively high quality results; feel free to experiment based on your source material.
Drag your image files (in JPEG, GIF, BMP, or PNG) to the box labeled "DROP IMAGES HERE." You may also drop folders of images, or file archives (ZIP and RAR format are currently supported).
The JPEGs will be converted to a PSP-friendly format of 480 pixels X ??? pixels. The Y resolution conforms to the proper aspect ratio. If the X resolution is less than 480 pixels, the picture will not be converted, just copied.
If you didn't set your actual PSP's "PSP/Photo" folder as your destination then copy the resulting files into the PSP image folder ( x:/PSP/PHOTO )
Please note that the PSP browser will only allow you to view one folder down from PSP/PHOTO. For example, you would be able to view the images in PSP/PHOTO/VACATION, but not the images in PSP/PHOTO/VACATION/GRANDCANYON.
SPECIAL NOTES
If converting folders or file archives, the resulting folders are created one level deep.

In other words, if your destination folder is set to C:\stuff, then if you drag in 3 files named "a.jpg, b.jpg and c.jpg" you'll get

C:\stuff\a.jpg
C:\stuff\b.jpg
C:\stuff\c.jpg

If you drag in 3 folders named "dogs", "cats", "birds", and each one has 3 files like above, you'll get

C:\stuff\dogs\a.jpg
C:\stuff\dogs\b.jpg
C:\stuff\dogs\c.jpg
C:\stuff\cats\a.jpg
C:\stuff\cats\b.jpg
C:\stuff\cats\c.jpg
C:\stuff\birds\a.jpg
C:\stuff\birds\b.jpg
C:\stuff\birds\c.jpg
If the destination folder starts with X:\PSP\Photo were X is any drive letter, PSPhoto will assume that's your PSP and will only create folders one level past the Photo folder. In other words, if you destination is set to X:\PHP\Photo\MyChristmasPhotos and you drop the dogs and cats folders from the example above, you'll get this:

X:\PSP\Photo\dogs\a.jpg
X:\PSP\Photo\dogs\b.jpg
X:\PSP\Photo\dogs\c.jpg
X:\PSP\Photo\cats\a.jpg
X:\PSP\Photo\cats\b.jpg
X:\PSP\Photo\cats\c.jpg

This basically means if you've set the destination folder to your PSP's photo folder, then you just drop folders or archives onto PSPhoto, it will "do the right thing."
The PSP image browser sorts images by date created/modified, so PSPhoto performs an alphabetical sort and dates them in that order.
The converter automatically skips non-image files.
PSPhoto does not perform destination file checking, so it will automatically overwrite existing images with the same name(s). Make sure your source and destination folders are not the same!
