UPDATE on Z's DTH-T10000 hypothesis...
After spending about a week comparing different mainboards and feedback from other TEST PS2 owners, it was determined by Z (with the help of a few colleagues) that in order to modify a standard retail PS2 to work as our DTH-T10000 operates, BOTH the BIOS and Decoder chip would need to be swapped... swapping the BIOS alone won't accomplish anything.
Another drawback with doing this modification is that different dumps would be required for the various PS2 models... and since this is how the Magic 2 mod-chip works (by patching the BIOS and Decoder chip) we have determined it's simply easier to install a Magic 2 than to go through all the effort of replicating what it does using self-programmed IC's. Anyone interested in a slightly-used PS2 TEST machine?
Saludos.
