Frenzy! Nintendo UK in Germany. World holds breath.
The world is expecting some kind of announcement from Nintendo today, after weeks of rumour and speculation. Gathering pace like a Tom and Jerry snowball, the Megaton Announcement has seen all kinds of industry chatter, with Capcom, Sega and more linked to the GameCube creators.
Furthermore, news from top-ranking Japanese sources today claims that Nintendo will begin bundling the Wave Bird wireless controller with the GameCube from early next year. The level of the source in this instance leads us to believe that this will almost certainly happen.
Speculation hints at Mario 128, as announced somewhat on the sly by Miyamoto last week, will be shown to the world.
But it’s the possible buy-out of Capcom that is really heating things up. Despite constant denials from Capcom and a wall of silence from Nintendo, the story will not die. News has now appeared on CBS MarketWatch stating that the sector is “ripe for consolidation.” It also speaks of the Megaton announcement saying, “Analysts said Japan-based Nintendo is expected to make a major announcement Tuesday. Officials at both Nintendo and Capcom, of Osaka, Japan, declined comment.”
At present, much of Nintendo Europe’s high-ranking staff are holed up in Germany, NOE’s HQ, further fuelling expectation.
Stay tuned for updates.
