No me reconoce la grabadora

Muy buenas a todos, y gracias por vuestro tiempo ante todo. Es la primera duda que posteo por aquí, he hecho búsqueda avanzada y no encuentro ná.

Veréis, tengo una placa base MSI-915P Combo, con gigabit ethernet, azalia (sonido) integrada que requirió de bastantes virguerías para echarla a andar en linux (de hecho tuve que ponerle una tarjeta de red realtek que tenía perdida por casa). Uso Debian Sid (unstable, verdad?). El disco duro del pc es un SATA, y tanto el lector como la grabadora IDE.

La placa tiene un solo canal IDE, y despues 2 aparte que son controlados por una controladora de RAID integrada en la placa. Tengo el lector enganchado al IDE de la placa base, y la grabadora a uno de los canales de la controladora (que es un zócalo IDE más en la placa, aunque de otro color)

La historia está en que el lector lo reconoce perfectamente en /media/cdrom0, pero la grabadora no hay manera de que la reconozca.

Alguna idea para hacer que me reconozca la grabadora? esque no la encuentro por /dev/ en ninguna parte!!! no tengo ni idea de qué hacer.

Mmmm... pon el dmesg en algún sitio que lo podamos ver.

PD: Los IDE no son 'slots'. Buses o canales IDE, pero no 'slots'. Un 'slot' es una ranura.

PD: Dios mio, yo creía que tenía algo de idea de esto... Dmesg?? lo que? Si os resulta muy frustrante explicármelo, lo entiendo... jeje. :Ð . Voy a buscar por mi cuenta y si tengo éxito lo pongo (tardaré un poco porque estoy haciendo un upgrade y luego toca el dist-upgrade). Gracias de todos modos!
Ejecuta 'dmesg' y pon la salida de ese comando en algun sitio para que podamos verlo.

A ver qué podemos sacar en claro... porque para lo único que uso windows es para grabar... entonces esto sería ya...

EDITO: A falta de encontrar una solución más profesional, he abierto el pc y he conectado la grabadora al IDE nativo de la placa base, porque por lo visto, la controladora RAID que hace las veces de controladora IDE no está muy bien soportado por linux. Así que bueno, por lo menos ahora sí que puedo grabar DVD's. Gracias de todos modos Ferdy.
