** UPDATE 2 **
I've finished version 0.2 of xwhiite. New features in this version:
- VNC server
- VNC client
- Microsoft remote desktop client
- iPod integration via gtkpod: use your wii+ipod as jukebox
- on-screen keyboard
- swap enabled (32MB - uses a local swapfile included in the package, no need to setup an extra partition)
- sshfs support
- a bunch of other small improvements and cleanups. The entire dist should still fit on a 512MB SD-card.
You can download the new version from these locations:
- http://hbcapps.com/debian-etch-4.0+w...te-0.2.tar.bz2 (thanks WarpedFlash!)
- http://www.ben64.com/debian-etch-4.0...2.tar.bz2.html (thanks Ben64!)
Installation instructions: same as xwhiite 0.1; see above.
Note: this will probably be the last xwhiite release, as it will be superseded by Muzer's dist Miight soon. Miight will feature more functionality and easier installation than xwhiite. I'm possibly teaming up with Muzer (and a few others) to work on the development of Miight together. Expect to hear more about that soon
In the meanwhile: have fun with xwhiite 0.2!
regards,
Bert Jan

All service scripts are in /etc/init.d, you can typically start, stop, and restart them by issuing the command
(for example) /etc/init.d/xdm stop (this would stop the login manager and gui, ctl-alt-f1 to get a console)
dbus, this does bluetooth stuff, you wanna leave it on or bluetooth will forsake you. It can do other things as well mind you.
distccd, daemon for distributed compiling, useful for installing things, should be off by default
gpm, for console mouse services, I dunno, you may need it, off by default.
hald, this may or may not work, it's for mounting devices on insert (this doesn't work at all with usb hubs)
mpd, music player daemon. It's very lightweight, should be on by default.
pure-ftpd, incase you need to transfer files, it's here for you, should be configured but I don't know, off by default
sensorbar, a service script to turn the sensorbar on/off, no longer used as wminput does the same thing on it's own.
sshd, Secure Shell Daemon, on by default, you know what it does right?
wminput, Scans and handles Wii Remote stuff, automatically turns on sensorbar.
xdm, boots gdm so it can auto login you as bliight, on by default but turn off if you'd like to boot to console.
(this is done for any service by using either rc-update add (or del) <servicename> <runlevel> (runlevel can be boot, default)

Fluxbox
Screen, I think it does count, yes.
