CDRWIN 5.0 is NOT from Goldenhawk Technology. We are currently investigating this situation, and will have some resolution to it soon. We strongly recommend that you do NOT use version 5.0 as there are many reports of it crashing people's systems. We have not stopped development, nor have we sold the rights to our software.

We will not make an official statement at this time for legal reasons

por lo q parece, goldenhawk no ha parado el desarrollo del cdrwin ni ha vendido la marca, se ve q los q han montao el 5.0 han comprao los derechos de distribución en europa de la marca (seguramente goldenhawk (USA) no registró CDRWIN pa usarlo solo ellos en europa)...

No exactamente... el autor de CDRWin uso el programa de código abierto CDRDAO para crear el suyo y venderlo (Algo poco ético), realmente no es un mago en esto de la programación de soft de grabación, pero como CDRDAO ya era cojonudo, lo único que tuvo q hacer fue añadir nuevas grabadoras. El chico hizo una pasta y dejó abandonado el proyecto, sólo actualiza las grabadoras compatibles cada X meses, de modo que Disc4you, que era su distribuidor europeo, ha comprado el nombre y ha lanzado su propia versión con un motor basado en el de Discjuggler (mal implementado) hasta que creen el suyo propio. El autor de CDRWin mientras tanto, marea la perdiz y se hace el loco diciendo cosas extrañas. Esto se saco en una entrevista al jefazo de Disc4you en la Ce-Bit.

Hombre, poco ético no es, es algo normal usar código de proyectos con licencia GPL o BSD...muchos de los programas que usamos hoy en día contienen código procedente de ellos.
Por ejemplo, Windows contiene código de FreeBSD, Linux también tiene partes importantes portadas desde FreeBSD, y a la inversa.
Lo que pasa es que según la licencia GPL, cualquier programa que contenga o modifique el código original, tiene que tener también su código fuente con licencia GPL.
En cambio con BSD, cualquier programa que contenga código con licencia BSD no necesita que su código fuente sea liberado.

Lo que si está claro es que hay muchos intereses con el nombre CDRWIN, y aquí todo el mundo quiere ganar pasta currando lo menos posible...

I did talk to the boss of Disc4You. Mr. Ullrich Engelmann

I didn't tell him about my being the webmaster of xxxx, and so we had a nice talk. Mainly about their "new" products, and the future of CDR gernerally.

The first thing I want to tell about is: CDRWin 5 Many people say it is an fake, and a sucking german CDR Site, claimed it comes from Goldenhawk.

Just bullshit

The real story:

The man behind Goldenhawk (no, I won't post his name) made a bunch of cash with his good old burning tool CDRWin. It was claimed that he uses some stolen code from a freeware CDR program, but that isn't imoportant anymore ...

As you've seen for yourself, the only thing changed in CDRWin the past months, was the support for new burners, and nothing else ...

He has lost the intersstes for his program, and so he stoped pushing the developemnet forward.

CDRWin is dead. There won't come new features. But here we come back to Disc4You:

They already distributed the program on the german market, and so they are a close partner of Goldenhawk.

Since Goldenhawk doesn't have interests in CDRWin anymore, Disc4You bought the name and started to develope CDRWin5.

Since Goldenhawk didn't sold the source code, and CDRWin is outdated, Disc4You asked the team from Padus (Disc4You distributes the Padus products in germany) for their burning engine.

That is why CDRWin5 (the first version) is using the pfc.dll from the Padus DiscJuggler.

Mr. Engelmann told me about Disc4You started to build up their own writing engine and so soon CDRWin5 will get the new engine from Disc4You.

CDRwin v.3.8 and v.4.0 had features that are missing in v.5 of this program. Cue Sheets and some other neat features.

Mr. Engelmann promised, that this features will be implemented soon again, so CDRWin5 can replace the old versions totally.

Since the developement of CDRWin5 is one of the top prioritys of Disc4You there will come out new version frequently.

Because of this CDRWin5 will get an auto update function soon.

Till that you can check the Disc4You ftp (ftp.disc4you.de) and see on which date the file was uploaded.

Yeah, so the story about CDRWin5 being developed from Goldenhawk is a fake. Goldenhawk sold the name to Disc4You and they will push the developement forward. Since they cannot use the source of CDRWin4, it will take some time till the product is back to the quality of the version from GoldenHawk, but I am pretty sure that they will gain this level pretty soon ..

ya ta arreglado, no problemo si gazapos se nos cuelan
a todos, pero mejor asin, la verdad es que la historia mola, yo ya estaba moqueao de porque el CDrWin que siempre me habia gustado mucho, pues no tenia actualizaciones de la 3 (la 4 era la beta infinita
la putada es que el Disjuggler nunca me gustó y si van a hacer un apaño...pues estoy mejor con el Fireburner que graba todo, pero todo todo[fies] y el nero, !como nor!
