Nvidia habla de PS3 y RSX (tambien del NV50)

- In terms of our economic relationship with Sony, it has 3 parts:

- Had the think in terms of being able to build 30M units a year. Needed to potentially repeat the PS2 success.
- Tons of different fabs needed to reach that capacity, so it's a lot of work.
- For us, we're also signed up to do cost reduction to new processes.
-- Also working on making the RSX more prevelant at Sony. RSX+CELL = Digital Architecture for Sony.
- So they want to use that architecture in all kinds of things, among which HD Video-related.
- Look at PS2: Two huge chips back one, One small chip that's hardly costing anything now.
- So, have to "reimplement the RSX" within the next 10 years into all those kinds of digital devices.
- Considered to be a 50% Margins Business.
--- License Element of the PS3: Extra fixed licensing revenue every quarter for 3 years.
- Been recognizing that for a couple of quarters now.
- That applies to the PS3, but also the use of RSX Technology in "all of these other platforms".
--- Royalty Component, as they ship our technology in each of these platforms.
- That element of our business hasn't started yet.
- But lead time ahead of when you might see boxes in the market. [Uttar: Reminder: They said June/July for Royalties]
--- System is structured so that licensing revenue is likely to stop when royalty revenue peaks.
- "In the front of the life of the PS3, it's all NRA and it's all fixed license fees"
- "So that's why we're seeing the benefits of Sony and PS3 pretty substantially this year"
- "The PSP is really one the last 3D devices that will be built inhouse by anybody on the planet"
- "Nobody has invested beyond Texture Mapping [that is, besides the industry-only companies, thus Intel kinda]"

- It was a huge discontinuity in investment, so from his pov, it doesn't make sense without volumes like theirs.

Dice "uhm" demasiadas veces, como si tuviese miedo de lo que puedan decir después :P Interesante lo de intentar tener la capacidad potencial de fabricar al mismo nivel que ps2.

¿¿?? Que, uhm , alguien me corrija si me, uhm , equivoco pero, uhm ... ¿el Xenos, uhm, no es la primera GPU con soporte, uhm, total de DirectX 10?

Te equivocas. Casi cumple con DX10 en algunos aspectos, pero ni de lejos en DX10

Pues no, tiene shaders unificados, etc. pero no es DX10 compliant.

Si no he entendido mal, Sony pagara a Nvidia una cantidad fija cada Trimestra durante 3 años en concepto de licencia por la tecnologia del RSX, asi como tambien pagaran un royaltie por cada unidad vendida. El sistema esta pensado para dejar de pagar por la licencia cuando el pago por royalties llegue a su punto maximo.

Parece que Nvidia no comenzara a cobrar en concepto de royalties hasta Junio o Julio, asi que es de suponer que no veremos la consola en ningun mercado hasta Verano?

Parece que estan trabajando en reducir el tamaño y poder implementar en un solo chip RSX+Cell igual que en su momento se hizo con GS+EE, y asi reducir constes y poder incluir la tecnologia en otros dispositivos.

Aparte de eso, no veo nada mas reseñable en lo que concierne a PS3.

PD: Ah si, tambien dice que el RSX se esta siendo fabricado por Sony en sus propias fabricas, asi como tambien en las de Toshiba, y que esperan conseguir un nivel de produccion de 30 millones de unidades anuales, pensando en poder cubrir la demanda generada por un potencial exito similar al de PS2
Que dolor de cabeza leer tantas frases sueltas... tampoco es que digan tanta cosa.

De todas formas, hablan de la siguiente generacion de chips, no del que le han puesto a la PS3 que se queda en DX9. Tampoco es un consuelo que el Xenos este a matacaballo entre las DX9 y DX10

Que tubiesen previsto cobrar para esas fechas por consolas vendidas no quiere decir estrictamente que para esas fechas ya se esten vendiendo consolas...O asi lo entiendo yo, es algo relativo no creeis¿

Si cobran un royalty por cada consola vendida, tendran que venderse consolas antes de cobrar, no?
¿Alguien sabe que aspectos de directx10 no soporta la gpu de 360? (o que tiene de más el nv50 respecto a este) yo creía que soportaba directx10 totalmente.
