PRO EVOLUTION TEAM LOOKS TO OTHER FORMATS
Konami's soccer monster may veer away from PlayStation 2 for its next instalment: Swiss cheese laid bare inside
15:51 Executive producer of Konami's Pro Evolution Soccer, Inamoto-san, has refused to rule out the possibility of the revered football franchise heading to multiple formats for its next generation.
Speaking in a Konami event in Switzerland today, the franchise chief admitted that the intention of the team was to grace other console hardware with Pro Evolution Soccer 3. He told journalists that the franchise's relationship with Sony was to be considered before any decision is made.
In addition, no online play for the next game could be confirmed for Europe yet, although Inamoto-san conceded that Internet gaming will accompany the title if European infrastructure was in place in time for release.
Pro Evolution Soccer 2, a PlayStation 2 exclusive, has already topped more than 1 million sales in Europe since its release in October this year.
The revelations follow the European finals of the Pro Evolution 2 soccer tournament in the Swiss mountains, won by the German contingent last night.
Pro Evolution is thought by soccer game fans to be by far the greatest example of the genre on planet football, despite unchangingly huge sales of its nearest rival, FIFA, published by EA.
