Many people have experienced save corruption with GTA3 so I've played about and seem to have found a solution to the problem. I experienced the problem myself when I first tried the game with HD Loader, I started testing it again and it just seems to have fixed itself after a bit of messing about.
I can't guarantee this will work because I'm still not sure why it worked or if it was a fluke. If you do try this out then please email me the results (good or bad) so I know.
I had trouble getting the original save file (the one which froze) to load, either from auto-load or starting a new game and going to the 'load' option, the screen would simply freeze and require a restart. I then started a new game with no memory card inserted, when I was able to save I put in a different memory card with no GTA3 save on and saved. I saved a second time and third time and it worked fine each time.
I then put my original memory card in (still while playing the same new game) and went to save and it showed my original save fine (the one that froze), this was a step forward because up to this point the load screen would freeze.
I saved this new game that I had been playing in a slot under my original save, this seems to have made it so I could load my original save game and since then I have had no problems at all even after multiple saves and deleting the newer game I had put in a slot under my original game.
Hope that all makes sense, I just can't think what actually fixed it and why I haven't had the problem since but everything seems to play fine now.
eso lo soluciona.
