Entrevista a Tim Willits (lead designer and co-owner of game developer id Software) en IGN durante el pasado E3:
IGN: So what's going on with id right now?
Tim Willits: We have a lot of stuff going on right now. You're here to see Quake Wars so I won't go into that right now. We're working with Raven on Wolfenstein right now and we'll have a little more to talk about with that at QuakeCon. We're here talking to potential licensees about id Tech 5, which is the structure of our new title being developed internally.
One of the cool things about Tech 5 is that it's cross-platform supporting PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Mac and PC and it all uses the same content, you know, it's the same code base. That's actually something very new that you don't really get with other technologies in the code base.
And also we're working on that internal game which we'll talk about at QuakeCon. And John is, of course, working on Orcs & Elves still with Fountainhead. We also have some other things going on that are pretty secret that we're very busy with as well. So yeah, we're just moving along. Our big focus internally right now is to build up our technology for licensing and to develop our internal title. As you know, we're a very small company. We've added some new people but we're still under 40. Aside from that we're focusing on helping Splash Damage finish up Enemy Territory.
IGN: How is Wolfenstein coming along?
Tim Willits: Kevin Cloud could probably answer this a tiny bit better but as you know Raven are a AAA company. We've tried to do things in the game that is different from Return to Castle Wolfenstein, that expands the Wolfenstein universe and adds some play variety. Gamers nowadays want more, they want broader, they want wider choices and we're really trying to, without saying too much, make the game different and make something that people haven't played before on id technology.
IGN: Do you know when the first time that you'll be showing this publicly?
Tim Willits: Well we'll have more to talk about at QuakeCon but I can't tell you exactly. It's a long ways out. It's not as much my thing so I'm not too sure what the exact plans are for QuakeCon.
Left 4 Dead estará de forma jugable:
We're headed to QuakeCon 2007 next week. If you're one of the 7,000+ lucky attendees, be sure to stop by booth 221 to say hi and play a few rounds of Left 4 Dead. Valve and the Turtle Rock Studios design team will be on hand to answer questions about the game. We're giving away some cool schwag, too. Next week, we'll fill you in our visit to the show.
