The Nintendo Reggie-lution

IGNcube would like to introduce our readers to the man, the ass kicker, the legend, Reggie Fils-Aime. With a few simple sentences, he's become the figure head for all things Nintendo.

Reggie, in one day, managed to win our hearts, our minds, and our game playing souls. How can anyone deny his ass kicking genius? IGNcube surely can't -- to celebrate the new era that the Regginator is ushering into existence, we've created a tribute.

Behold. The Power of Reggie

Breaking….

In a shocking turn of events, the normally jubilant and quiet-mannered crowd of the annual Electronics Entertainment Expo in Los Angeles was caught in the midst of a sudden riot that left over 100 of the attendees dead and over 400 in critical condition.

The carnage began when one show attendee apparently questioned the viability of long-time videogame King, Nintendo. The vice president of sales for Nintendo, Reggie Fils-Aime, cornered the show-goer and asked for his name. Before the unidentified attendee has a chance to answer, Fils-Aime brutally beat the attendee about the head and face with a replica of Nintendo’s new NintendoDS product that was debuted at E3 this year. After the savage beating, Fils-Aime reportedly ripped the man’s nametag off of his shirt and ate it.

As E3 security approached Fils-Aime in an attempt to apprehend the long-time Nintendo employee, Fils-Aime allegedly sprouted wings and flew over the heads of the conference attendees. Striking from above, Fils-Aime managed to defy the first law of thermodynamics and created a seemingly endless supply of energy as he shot beams of pure plasma from his mouth in a style akin to famous videogame heroine, Samus Aran.

Fils-Aimes continued his assault for well over an hour, stopping briefly only to collect nametags of fallen conference attendees.

The violence ended when the conference attendees were rushed into a “secure room” that Nintendo had put together on the show floor in the event that such an incident occurred.

When questioned about the activities of his employee, Nintendo’s senior vice-president of Marketing and Sales, George Harrison began projecting a PowerPoint presentation onto a crumbling conference center wall that Fils-Aimes had kicked down in his fit of rage. The presentation included slides that indicated Nintendo’s new GameBoy Advance SP had outsold the Playstation 2 for the months of November and December of last year.

As Fils-Aimes flew off into the hazy Los Angeles skyline, Microsoft’s Chief Vice President of the Xbox platform, J. Allard was questioned about the incident.

“I’m not sure what happened…” Allard said through tears in the demolished West Hall of the Los Angeles convention center. “I was just trying to give a demonstration of the new Xbox Live Arcade to some magazine editors when I saw Reggie fly into the Microsoft booth and begin to smash Xboxes over his head. He came over to me and kept screaming ‘GIVE ME YOUR NAME! GIVE ME YOUR NAME! I’M HERE TO TAKE YOUR NAME!’ Then he beat up Muhammed Ali and put Ali’s nametag on this strange necklace that he was wearing. He said it gave him his power. .I was so terrified….”

It is still unclear exactly how many perished in this awful event at the normally peaceful Electronics Entertainment Expo. One thing is certain however, and that is that nobody will ever question Nintendo’s authority again.

The Nintendo Reggie-lution
A superstar is born.
May 13, 2004 - "My name is Reggie. I'm about kicking ass," Nintendo's executive vice president of sales and marketing Reginald Fils-Aime exclaimed at the company's pre-E3 2004 press conference and a superstar was born. Though the crowd on hand for the event went wild and the Internet exploded with excitement about Nintendo's new figurehead, he seemed unfazed. Fils-Aime in fact pressed onward, striving boldly for demigod status. "I'm about taking names," he said. "And we're about making games."

The Nintendo Reggie-Lution had arrived.

Since that time thousands of posters on the IGN message boards and other popular Internet newsgroups have been unable to converse about anything or anybody except for Reggie "Regident Evil" Fils-Aime and his opening pre-E3 remarks. Perhaps it's because "Regg-Hammer" is so damn charismatic that executives from competing companies like Sony and Microsoft feel emasculated by his mere presence. Or maybe it's simply because he has the strength of 100 men and can fly. But whatever the reason, Nintendo fans everywhere are calling for Fils-Aime to run for the Regidency of the United States.

Though Reggie's entrance into the Nintendo family has been quietly publicized, little is known about the giant's past. But that hasn't stopped IGN board posters from speculating.

"Reggie is the megaton [IGN] was referring to in its E3 hype thread. He came from a meteor that crash-landed on Earth on an Asteroid's arcade machine," wrote user Koam, who currently has more than 7,000 posts on IGN's boards.

Regardless of background, it's clear that Nintendo-ites have lined up in support of the man who has helped "Reg-juvenate" the GameCube market.

"Reggie is the light of Nintendo, nay, the light for the world! He will see us through these times, because He is great," wrote netrunner2k2, with more than 11,000 posts on the IGN Boards.

"When Reggie walks, his massive footprints fill with beautiful flowers for the children to enjoy," added Luckychunk with 1,800-plus posts on the IGN Boards. "He also can talk to the animals."
