If you ever wanted to clutch at straws regarding the release of an “exclusive” game, then now is the time. A cracked piece of Mass Effect 2 source code seems to retain two-lines of code retaining to the apparent existence of a Playstation 3 version of the game.
Source code from the PC version of the game, reads:
[SFXGame.BioSFHandler_CharacterR?ecord2]
m_nMaxRenegade=1900
m_nMaxParagon=1957
m_srXPFormat=340881
m_srSpendTalentPointsMessageXBox?=348754
m_srParagonRenegadeMessageXBox=3?48755
m_srSpendTalentPointsMessagePC=3?48753
m_srParagonRenegadeMessagePC=348?755
m_srSpendTalentPointsMessagePS3=?348755
m_srParagonRenegadeMessagePS3=15?3007
You’re looking for the bottom six lines of code, each belonging to the “XBox”, “PC”, and – whut? – “PS3″ versions of the game. At the very least, if not a coincidence, this means there is a PS3 version of the game somewhere. Of course, it could be mean nothing at all.
We’re still holding hope for a Mass Effect/Mass Effect 2 blu-ray compilation pack a little later in the year. EA may aswell, it’ll surely sell a million or so copies.
