SNK strikes back

The company best known for Neo Geo arcade games is coming back to North America...

SNK has announced that it will be making a return to North American consumer operations to license new products for Game Boy Advance, Xbox, PlayStation 2, and GameCube. A new branch will be opened in Marlboro, New Jersey. Ben Herman, the former vice president of sales before the company went bankrupt in 2000, will serve as president. After the company went under, it retained the SNK brand even though it was under Playmore's control. Playmore owns all intellectual property rights to past SNK franchises and has continued to issue updated installments for certain series. Playmore will also be overseeing the SNK revival in North America.

This revival will begin at E3 next month, when playable Japanese versions of Metal Slug for GBA, and King of Fighters 2001 will be shown. Also, SNK vs. Capcom will be on display, but only in video form. Better yet, a new Samurai Showdown title and a new 3D Metal Slug are already in the works. Lastly, Herman said to GameDaily: "I'm not going to stop until we get Baseball Stars," and he added that he wants any future Baseball Stars properties to contain the ability to play online.
