"This collaboration with BioWare further represents LucasArts' long-term strategy to build relationships with the world's premier game developers," says Simon Jeffery, president of LucasArts. While LucasArts has used third party developers before in the development of its titles (Factor 5 being the most prominent), recently the company has been reaching out and creating partnerships with high-profile developers such as Verant, creators of EverQuest, and now, BioWare. "BioWare has consistently delivered compelling games with rich and deeply engaging stories. Together, we aim to create a milestone role playing game set within a unique and largely unexplored area of the Star Wars universe," added Jeffery. The move will undoubtedly re-ignite fervor about LucasArts Star Wars titles, and LucasArts as a whole. BioWare's track record with RPGs, while small, is second to none in the current RPG market.
