Y yo voy ahorrando, voy ahorrando...
Aquí os pongo las impresiones del tipo ese..., largas pero interesantes:
At first I held off buying this game for several reasons. Firstly, I am not a mech fan and have never found any interest in big robots nor games that include them, and was worried that the game would not appeal enough to someone like me. Secondly, I really was intimidated by the size and what I perceived to be, the ridiculous nature of the controller and all its buttons.
In the end, I grudgingly decided to get the game after just buying a special edition Japanese XBOX, and needing a game to play on it. Plus I figured that if the game wasn`t to my taste, I could always trade it in, or keep it for noveltys sake (after all, even if the game was shite, the controller alone has stamped the game on the pages on gaming history). Also that
http://www.NTSC-UK.com review also made me curioser and curioser.
Let me start off by saying that this game is TOUGH. I imagine that many gamers would not be willing to persist at a certain point way before the end of the 23 missions. I am currently on mission 5 of Rookie (easy) level having nearly run out of money/points to buy new mechs and therefore nearly buggered.
It takes a good couple of hours to even slightly get to grips with the workings of the machines, and as for grasping the intricacies of the mech/VT, many hours.
Thankfully, I`m getting there and am comfortable with using most of the buttons fairly naturally now (although I am still a faaar way off from being able to control the mech completely naturally without thinking about it). It must take at least a good 10 hours or more to get to this stage of agility, and many many more hours to gain absolute mastery of the controls. Not only this, but once even getting to grips with the controls, theres a myriad of tactical considerations to contend with both before and during each mission.
For example, before starting each mission, I have to consider which VT to use for each mission- which is pretty essential as different mechs have different assets and skills naturally and they also carry different weapons (which is particularly crucial as I can`t personally envisage doing some of the missions with some of the VTs). I also have to consider the weapons I will arm each mech with.
As for the tactical considerations during each mission, this seems almost endless. For example mission 4 took which took me a few goes to do, played out completely differently every time. Even within this one mission, there were so many different kinds of situations and all required distinctly different approaches from me. I was confused as to how to play this one tactically, as it involved me invading a port to destroy a huge battle ship. Before getting to the battleship (which was needless to say, armed to the teeth) I couldn`t decide whether to let my comrade VTs go in first to take on the 10 or so enemy VTs on the way. At first I brashly ran forward to take on these VTs and got my arse completely kicked (quite embarrassing really, I died within a couple of minutes here).
Eventually I found it better to let the 2 big boys go in ahead of me and take on these opposing VTs head on, while I sniped at the rear with rockets. It wasn`t too easy to be honest as my comrades brazenly went through the level towards the ship, and I was left to mop up the remaining VTs who were hiding from them behind buildings, but then were deciding to start attacking me. During this time also, there were enemy ships who had come round to my position to start firing at me. After sustaining a fair amount of damage, and my 2 comrades had died, I was left with 2 more nasty VTs and the giant multiple rocket firing ship to contend with. By this point, I had also used all my chaff grenades (which are used to direct enemy missiles heading towards you, away from you) and had to manually dodge everything coming at me (this is done using a combination of the left stick and the left pedal). Eventually, after maneovering myself so that the enemy VTs were in between me the the giant rocketing ship (as to avoid the ships missiles) I eventually destroyed the 2 VTs and ran fast fast fast (after shifting the gears in quick succession into 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th) behind one of the buildings (in fact I was turning and running so fast that my mech fell over). As a result, the screen was dirty and after washing it, I decided to take stock behind the building. I used this as cover and hopped in and out while taking shots at the ship. During this time I had run out of weapons, so I turned the dial on my comms to call in extra supplies. Once being delivered, I was fully ammoed up, I won through and obliterated the ship.
This game is so amazing because it completely sucks you in, in a way that other games can`t. It is incredibly immersive, and the way the controller works helps to increase this immersion to no end. Because it is so anal, it feels all the more realistic. The feelings you get when you begin to master the controls are nothing short of exhilirating. The game is so so rewarding, because the learning curve is incredibly long (as well as steep). Every time you get through a mission or you come through a very tough situation (e.g. you against 8 VTs) the reward you feel is like none other I have ever felt in any other game before.
You are at War in this game!! To my mind, it does the `war` feeling better than Medal of Honour ever did (although I understand both are very very different). It really does feel like you are in the middle of a huge battle and the graphics are also pretty amazing and suit the game very well.
Anyone sceptical about paying that much for one game shouldn`t be. The controller to my mind is worth the price- looks and feels very proffessional and sturdy, and for those who persist (in spite of the difficulty) there is at least 100hours of gameplay in there from what I can tell. As for the score I would give it- a resounding 10- and whoever said that it shouldn`t be given 10 because of the expense or whoever said that giving it 10 would be elitist is just plain wrong. By all means, if others don`t deem the game to be worth a 10, this should be based on gameplay considerations alone
A que tiene buena pinta...
