The Italian Job will be the only GameCube game that Eidos is showing at this year’s E3. It will be coming out near the time of the release of the summer movie that it’s based on. The premise of The Italian Job is that you are pulling off the ultimate heist. The game itself is a high-octane arcade racer that has you on the run with a souped-up Mini Cooper loaded with a trunk full of stolen gold. Four gameplay modes include: story, based on the movie’s plot and is 15 missions long. Stunt driving has death defying deeds on seven different courses. Intense circuit racing should provide more of the racing experience, compared to the story mode, which is more about driving.
The movie that’s also called The Italian Job is actually a remake of the original 1969 heist movie. It's about a group of professional thieves seeking revenge on their double-crossing ex-partner who stole $35 million in gold from them. By rigging the city’s stoplights and creating the largest traffic jam in Los Angeles’ history, the bandits attempt a clean getaway with their cars loaded with the stolen gold. They plan to escape in their specially modified Mini Coopers. It stars Mark Wahlberg, Charlize Theron, Edward Norton, Donald Sutherland, Seth Green, Mos Def and Jason Statham. It will start playing at theaters on May 30th, 2003.
