Super Mario Sunshine's best-kept secrets...
999 coins: method one
To fill up your standard Coin meter (and earn 19 1-Ups in the process), ignore Mecha Bowser in Pinna Park episode two, and keep squirting the Bullet Bills he chucks at you.
999 coins: method two
If you've finished the game, this is for you. Pay the ferryman near the clocktower 10 coins to return to Delfino Airstrip, collect 50 coins, and quit without saving. Return to the Airstrip, repeat...
Secret manhole
Head over to the lighthouse that's home to the Gelato Beach entrance, and douse the sand around the nearby fruit stall until a hidden manhole cover is uncovered. Inside: coins, and a 1-Up Mushroom.
The birds
So you thought the birds were just there for a little local flavour? Squirt green birds to bag standard Coins, blue birds for Blue Coins, red birds for Red Coins - and gold birds for Shine Sprites!
Speed climb
Scampering up steep inclines in the blistering heat is enough to make a plumber pack it all in for good. So when climbing a hill, Body Slam, then jump and push forward for accelerated ascension.
Underwater sprint
Expert princess-rescuer he may be, but Mario's swimming speed is far from Olympic standard. Fix that by diving underwater and switching on the Turbo Nozzle - that's speed swimming!
Easy 1-Ups
Complete Sirena Beach episode 6 and douse all the Noki to collect their Blue Coins. Now return to the same episode and moisten the Noki again for enough 1-Up mushrooms to make Mario sick.
Yoshi!
Feed a durian or chili to a Yoshi egg for purple Yoshi (creates horizontal lifts); a banana or coconut for pink Yoshi (vertical lifts), or a pineapple or lemon for orange Yoshi (still platforms).
Hidden coins: Gelato Beach
Head over to Gelato Beach's beach hut and swim underneath. When you're floating beneath where the cash register sits, jump up to grab a bundle of secret standard Coins.
Mystery door in Noki Bay
For this one, you'll have to check the Super Mario Sunshine FAQ section...
