UC2 descargas y E3

With Unreal Championship 2 already out, Dr. Mike Capps, the game’s lead designer and President of Epic Games, took time in his busy schedule to sneak into the official UC2 forums and answer a couple of questions. One of the topics Mike Capps addressed was downloadable content. Here’s what he had to say:

As Joe said, there will be alts (alternate character schemes) -- available via Xbox Live as downloadables. Not every character has an alt. Some are just different textures, some are different models as well, and there are a few characters that have different abilities or weapons...

We'll definitely have downloadable characters available via Xbox Live. The 'press X to pick alternate character' scheme someone mentioned is for downloadables.

Another statement by Capps seems to indicate that the Raleigh, North Carolina-based developer plans to continue with console games its well known tradition of free content:

And no, we're not charging you for downloads, that's lame.

E3 Plans

When answering the mysterious question “Where’s Cliffy B?” the President of Epic Games gave a hint at what can we expect to see at this year’s E3 show:

Cliff's hard at work on a brand new franchise that we'll be showing off at E3 in a month. Sadly, that's where most of us are -- we're showing the new UT and another new franchise, so we're all hard at work on the next thing. No time to relax and enjoy shipping UC2.

Word of mouth tells that the name of that new franchise is the recent trademark Epic Games was granted called Gears of Wars and will feature those characters and creatures used for showcasing the Unreal Engine 3 feature at this year’s GDC.

We’ll definitely find out what Epic Games is up to in a few weeks.
