FRAG - Flashing Red and Green.
Also known as "Christmas Lights". The Xbox turns on and off twice (quickly) then remains turned on for the third time while the power light flashes between red and green. This should only happen when switch 4 is in the ON position and no BIOS is installed. This indicates that your d0 connection is correct and your FCC cable is correctly installed. It can also indicate that your BIOS flash is bad or you are using a BIOS which is not designed for your xbox (i.e. using a v1.1 bios on a v1.0 xbox or vice versa)
PARALLEL CABLE
The parallel cable is a MALE to FEMALE straight 25 pin cable. That is to say male pin one goes to female socket one, male pin two goes to female socket two and so on up to pin 25. If you have a 295mm FCC cable, you should use a 3ft parallel cable, otherwise 6ft should be OK. If you buy a male to male or female to female cable an adaptor should be fine so long as the adaptor doesnt cross over any of the pins.
FLASH PROTECT JUMPER
The remaining jumper on the mod itself is the flash protect jumper. Leave this in place if you want to flash the mod. This IS NOT the same as the LITE dipswitch people have been confusing it with which allowed you to select between two bioses that supported either the v1.0 or v1.1 xbox.
FLASHING
When flashing, ABSOLUTELY ALL dipswitches on the flash adaptor MUST be off or you will get the wrong device ID when pressing the info button. The ID you are looking for is 01 d5. If you cannot get this, ensure that you have your parallel settings as:
Either EPP 1.9
or ECP
Also, ensure the FCC cable is installed correctly.
You should NOT attempt to flash until you can get your mod to FRAG otherwise it may indicate bad soldering or your FCC cable is incorrectly inserted.
If you get verification errors, dont worry the mod is still likely to have flashed correctly. The reason you get verification errors may be because you are using a parallel cable which is too long or the modchip may be picking up internal interference from the Xbox. One way I found of verifying if communications were occuring properly is upon flashing (during the erasing stage) the progress bar hangs at 50% for a few seconds, if the flashing process was not going ahead properly it would erase instantly.
When flashing, you MUST fill up all banks (i.e. make one large 1024KB BIOS). This can be done by filling all banks with the same bios, or by mixing several BIOSes into the banks.
Once you're done flashing REMOVE THE PARALLEL CABLE! If you don't, strange things will happen when you try to boot your console! (i.e. the switches wont function as they should - the wrong bios will boot or you may just get a blank screen!!!)
BIOS
MAKE SURE YOU USE the X2 4974 BIOS. This is the only BIOS that displays XECUTER2 when booting. This is a surefire way of testing that your chip is correctly flashed and installed.
ERROR CODES
SOLID GREEN, NO EJECT, NO AUDIO, NO VIDEO
Probably a bad solder point. Check all your points again.
It could also be a heat problem, make sure your fan is connected and that you haven't put your Xbox near heat sources. Try powering up your Xbox without the cover on to see if this helps.
SOLID GREEN, NO AUDIO, NO VIDEO
This is probably a problem with your audio settings. Try to boot your Xbox with a standard A/V cable instead of a HD pack. This error also occurs sometimes when you try to power up your Xbox with the parallel cable plugged into the flash adaptor.
ORANGE/GREEN FLASHING
No AUDIO/VIDEO (A/V) cable.
This may also be down to a solder splash on the board or a damaged track.
ORANGE
This may also be down to a solder splash on the board or a damaged track. May also be due overheating.
SOLID RED
System overheated or hardware failure - probably a ruined Xbox.
ERROR CODES
1 - bootldr - Unknown exactly, something to do with checking the motherboard
2 - bootldr - EEPROM check failed
3 - bootldr - Unknown
4 - bootldr - RAM check failed
5 - kernel - HDD not locked (retail BIOSes require the HDD to be locked)
6 - kernel - Cannot unlock HDD
7 - kernel - HDD timeout
8 - kernel - No HDD found
9 - kernel - HDD parameters (PIO/DMA/or size)
10 - kernel - DVD timeout
11 - kernel - No DVD Found
12 - kernel - DVD parameters (PIO/DMA)
13 - kernel - Dashboard launch fail (due to missing/bad key, or anything else that would prevent it from running). Also the dashboard didn't specify why it failed.
14 - dashboard - Error loading dashboard (dashboard generic error)
15 - Unknown - Not used
16 - dashboard - Other files to do with dashboard/ dashboard settings (specific dashboard error)
17 - Unknown - Not used
18 - Unknown - Not used

20 - kernel - The dashboard attempted to load and failed; It was a cold boot. The dashboard didn't specify why it failed, but it reported that the DVD drive is there and is functional
21 - anywhere - This error is displayed because a program told it to do so, not hardware.
